LANDING & LAUNCHING PADS: When your child gets home from school, they need a landing pad and when they get ready to leave for school, they need a launching pad. Where will your stuff from school go once you get home? Is there a designated place for it? Can you create a particular spot where everything needed for the next day is prepared and ready to go long before it’s time to leave for school, maybe even the evening before?

Even as a homeschool mama, the temptation arises early to prepare your child for the "work" of schooling. There will be the pressure to make sure that they are "on track" with their peer group, comparing them to those in formal schools or even those you interact with in your homeschool days of co-ops, and extra-curricular activities. But childhood is not a race to see how fast your child can read, write, and count. It is a journey of discovery that we should never grow out of. Before kids are required to use a pencil they must have ample opportunity to dig, plant, stack, build, invent, paint, pretend, mold, rip, throw, pet, splash, weave, mix, sort, pat, bang, and clap with their hands. These are the building blocks of dexterity. Don’t rush them. Just enjoy watching them with wonder! #homeschool #homeschooling #homeschoolmama #learning #imagination #pretendplay #homeschoolmomcoach #learnwithjoy #wildandfree #wonder #beautychaser #children #play #discover #nature #naturetreasures #outdoors #outdoornaturehour #explore

If you're over 50 years old, you probably beat the odds. You probably spent hours playing outside as kid. You waited for the street lights to come on before you went home, had a bicycle you rode regularly, maybe climbed a tree or two. Yes, at least 80% of us over 50 played outside regularly, but odds are today, only 1 in 4 kids play outside regularly. Why? We know why. Digital infiltration, lack of green spaces, overscheduling. Pick one. Or two. Let's challenge--and encourage--our younger generation to return to the outdoors. Ground Education has included fun outdoor spaces as part of our school program, literally, for the fun of it! Nature paths like these not only add a little pizazz to the playground but improve balance, concentration, even vision. For some of our students, school outdoor time is the only safe outdoor time they really get. This is one reason why our school garden program matters. Help us keep the momentum going as we grow into more schools! www.groundeducation.org #schoolgardens #outdoorlearning

🪑Why don't children just sit still? -How our chairs are effecting our children's concentration... . 💫Children use around 81 muscles to sit on a chair if they can not touch the floor or are not supported, that's like doing a full body work out whilst expecting them to work and listen. . 🤍Have you ever checked your chairs in the classroom or at home that you are expecting children to sit still on? Can they touch the floor? Are they supported? It is like you sitting on a bar stool, which we can agree is unnerving. This tip can also be used at home, if you're wanting a child to be able to sit without having to engage core muscles. . 🌼Try to get the child's feet flat on the floor and not dangling. A chair with back support is much more supportive and can help the child feel grounded. . 🍃We measured, and made, each of our children sitting boards on the first day and the impact was remarkable.. . . #classroommanagement #classroomsetup #classroomideas #classroomorganization #classroominspiration #classroomtransformation #classroompinspirations #classroomresources #classroomhacks #chairs #behaviourculture #behaviourmanagement #behaviourmanagement #teacherideas #teachertips #teachertipsandtricks #parenthacks #parenthack #home #homehacks #behaviors #behavioranalysis #behaviormodification

Great work being done by Trust for Public Land Cooling the urban environment is good for people, animals and the planet
We’re thrilled to be featured in The Washington Post for our work transforming schoolyards into cooler, greener spaces: https://wapo.st/3TrQs2p #CommunitySchoolyards are more than play spaces—they reduce heat risks, enhance student health, support learning, and provide essential park space for communities. As temperatures rise, our efforts to replace asphalt with trees, shade structures, and nature-rich play areas is more urgent than ever—and our work isn’t complete until every schoolyard offers these vital benefits.
Why schools are ripping up asphalt playgrounds across the U.S.

Well-designed athletic facilities are invaluable to schools, enhancing sports and physical education while fostering community pride. These spaces also support youth events and generate revenue through rentals and ticket sales. While certain aspects—like field dimensions—are standard, numerous options can influence performance, safety, and aesthetics. School leaders, coaches, and community members need to weigh these factors carefully when planning or upgrading facilities. Click the link below as we dive into some of these considerations with The Kleingers Group in our latest whitepaper. https://lnkd.in/gE4s2RgC
