Recently, one of our fintech clients launched a new feature, and the engagement response was LOW, so they reached out. After reviewing their messaging, here's what was missing. WIIFM: What's in it for me? They'd focused too much on the new release. But there was barely any info on how this helped their customers. This is what we did to fix that: 1️⃣ Focused on the customers, not the feature → We rewrote the messaging from the customer POV point of view and talked less about the new feature. 2️⃣ Simplified the messaging → We used simple, direct language that mainly answered the question "What problem does this new feature solve for me?" 3️⃣ We sub-segmented the audience → We adjusted the messaging to speak directly to the different groups and their unique needs. 4️⃣ We did A/B testing → We looked for patterns in what resonated and what didn’t. The results were astounding. Messaging isn’t about your product—it’s about the person you’re talking to. When you’re launching something, talk about the new features. But keep the focus on your customers' needs.
