Some of you know that Greg Sterling and I have launched a new business we're calling Dialog. Why would we do this? We believe we're staring at a transformational moment - the application of AI and ML into the intersection of SaaS and local commerce. And just like we did a decade - or two ago - when we brought clarity and understanding to the global analog local search world (aka the print Yellow Pages world) with our colleagues (Charles Laughlin, Matt Booth, Jed Williams, Mike Boland, Dan Miller, Nanci Karas, Bobbi Loy, and John Kelsey) we intend to do the same in this rapidly emerging new space. We’re doing new, proprietary quantitative and qualitative research with local business operators and combining that with conversations that include industry experts and leaders. From all that stuff, we’re pulling out key data, observations and insights to deliver Dialog members (charter members include Birdeye, EverCommerce, Scorpion, SOCi, Thryv, Wix and Vendasta) crisp clarity on the implications of AI in local commerce. Neither Greg nor I have ever been accused of not having an informed opinion - or even just an opinion - and we’re looking forward to pushing those opinions into the dialog about the local commerce ecosystem going forward. Check out what we’re up to at www.localdialog.com. We just completed our first quantitative survey and learned that over 75% of local business owners are pretty jazzed about both their economic prospects for 2024 and the potential of AI to deliver really positive benefits and results for their businesses. We also learned that those same local businesses are driven by “customers” to adopt new technologies - living proof of an increasingly customer centric, customer experience driven business world. We’re looking forward to hearing from you either in this space or at [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]
Neal Polachek You may want to consider a trip to Thailand later this year to present more of this at SMBCON24!
Congratulations Neal Polachek and Greg Sterling. That sounds awesome and I will be following!
Very cool, prefect timing to be bringing the tracking of customer/smb voice into the equation. I'll be following closely...
If the past is any indication, your collective observations and insights will help us better understand this new technology and its implications for local businesses. Glad you folks are taking it on.
I hope this isn't affecting your golf game :-)
Best wishes on what is to come!
So excited for the both of you... wishing much success!
Neal Polachek and Greg Sterling are 2 of the smartest folks in local advertising. And they're surfing the same tsunami I'm surfing in law. AI is more than a wave. Get your wetsuit on and jump in!
Looking forward to your insights.

9moYou folks helped so many analog businesses (aka yellow page publishers) in navigating the changes to digital products - I look forward to your ideas for using AI in everyday tools and products for small to medium sized business.
