Three years ago, we came across a French tech startup called Greenov, which took an innovative approach to an important renewables industry challenge: reducing noise pollution from the piling of monopolies into the ground to build offshore wind farms 💨 Why is this important? Because sound is the only variable that provides information over long distances under water, and many marine species use sound to navigate, hunt and communicate 🔊 Greenov has created an underwater system called the Subsea Quieter that creates a barrier of air between the sound and the ocean, blocking the piling noise 🚫 🔊 A decrease of just three decibels would halve the noise intensity, but this system aims to reduce noise by 10-35 decibels. Now, both EDF Renouvelables and TotalEnergies have joined this joint industrial partnership, and Greenov is getting ready to test the technology in full scale. The partners are contributing technical expertise and financial support, and the first Subsea Quieter prototype is now being tested in the water in France. For Equinor, this is about having a holistic approach to developing wind farms and providing positive contributions to nature and society. Best of luck to the project team with the upcoming tests – and hopefully this can grow from something small to a big positive impact on marine life 🐟 Find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dx_SynZc

This is a great example of how ocean observing and best practices can support offshore renewable energy
GOOS has just completed a set of Ocean Observing Use Cases to track the impact of observations in key delivery areas across GOOS. Thank you to Manfred Zeiler, the GOOS National Focal Point for Germany, who helped develop this first GOOS Ocean Data Use Case. As Germany continues to invest heavily in offshore wind farms and platforms in its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the North Sea and the Baltic, #OceanObserving is playing a vital role in optimising operation and productivity now and for the future.

🔦 BayWa r.e. spotlight on #OffshoreWind 🌊 Can you guess what Susann "Sanni" Beucke, and our offshore wind projects have in common? We are a proud sponsor of Olympic Games medallist, Sanni Beucke, who started her second career in #offshore sailing two years ago. Where the wind blows, Sanni would be sailing with the sea breeze across the ocean. The same wind that we need for our #offshore wind farms, which we will build worldwide, to generate green energy. 👉 Find out more about how BayWa r.e. and Sanni are setting sails together: https://lnkd.in/etX935d9 #bwrespotlightoffshorewind #offshorewind #floatingwind #energytransition #windenergy #weeffectchange #roadto2028 #thisraceisfemale

New Partners Announcement – SIMPLE III Project It is with great joy that the SIMPLE III consortium, supported by GROW offshore wind, would like to announce the onboarding of its new members, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG and Seaway7. Falko Henning Mertens, Team Leader T&I at EnBW says ‘’For our future installations, we need to look at new methodologies. The Vibrojet® technology is a promising alternative to impulse pile driving under suitable ground conditions. In particular, we joined the SIMPLE III project to gain insights into this innovation and its potential to deliver installations to target depth while reducing noise levels.’’ The new partners will support the project with financial contributions and by facilitating key decisions via the project’s steering committee group. ‘’Seaway7 is pleased to participate in the SIMPLE III project to better understand the promising Vibrojet® technology which aims to offer a quieter offshore foundation installation method, resulting in reduced impact on marine life. The planned large-scale offshore test will not only provide better insight into a new noise reduction method, but will also provide a better understanding for full-scale commercial application requirements. We are looking forward to working with all project partners on this exciting journey towards finding new noise-conscious foundation installation methods for the offshore wind industry’’, says Luka David Đilas, Technology Project Lead at @Seaway 7. With two extra partners, we continue with the preparations for the offshore large scale tests with the Vibrojet® technology. #Vibrojet #SilentInstallations #OffshoreWind #GreenEnergy #Innovation #JIP #Newpartners #sustainability

[English version] 🇬🇧 At last! The winner of AO5, the first floating wind farm tender located offshore southern Brittany, is now known.🏆 The French Government selected Pennavel, the consortium composed of Elicio and BayWa r.e. EMEA, for this 250 MW offshore wind farm. It will also be the first commercial floating offshore wind farm in #France. XP SEA, which has been working for two years on AO5, supporting Moulins de Mervent consortium, enthusiastically welcomes this exciting news awaited for months by an entire industry. 🌱 It is a major project for France and for Brittany's energy independence, contributing to accelerating the ecological transition. Furthermore, the French Government highlighted the local #breizhContent contribution in which XP Sea fits perfectly, being based in Lorient near the future wind farm. Now, Brittany’s wind industry, to which XP Sea belongs, can take action. Many challenges lie ahead for this first French Floating Wind Farm. Especially technical challenges related to turbine size, the specificity of dynamic cables, the significant dimensions of floaters, and anchoring system in extremely difficult rocky soil! 📍 XP Sea has made floating wind a priority that echoes its expertise and its choice to support projects using wind energy. 🌊 XP Sea has many years of experience in offshore technologies and in supporting industry players of the maritime sector through different project phases, particularly in floating offshore wind. 🌟 Exciting Developments in Offshore Wind: The Power of Vibro Driving 🌊✨ As the global push for cleaner energy sources intensifies, innovative technologies are increasingly coming to the forefront. One such technology is vibro driving, which according to a recent feature by CAPE Holland, is set to revolutionize offshore wind installation. 🔍 Vibro driving involves the use of vibrations to drive piles into the seabed, a method that is not only faster but also less harmful to the marine environment compared to traditional impact hammering. This technology reduces noise levels significantly, thus minimizing the disturbance to marine life – a critical consideration in marine ecosystems. 🌏 For countries like the Philippines, which is blessed with an extensive coastline but prone to natural disasters, the adoption of vibro driving could be transformative. The Philippines' geographical positioning makes it an ideal candidate for offshore wind projects, and with vibro driving, the speed and efficiency of constructing these infrastructures can be significantly enhanced. This could lead to faster realization of renewable energy goals and a reduction in the country's reliance on fossil fuels. 🤔 The environmental and logistical advantages pose a question: How can other coastal regions in emerging economies leverage this technology? Could this be the key to unlocking the potential of renewable energy worldwide? 👥 I’d love to hear your thoughts on the potential impact of vibro driving on global offshore wind initiatives, especially in emerging markets. How do you see this technology shaping the future of renewable energy? #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #VibroDriving #SustainableDevelopment #Philippines #GlobalImpact
