I made a huge mistake with influencer marketing—and it turned out to be my best learning moment. A few months ago, we collaborated with a big influencer who had more than 30,000 followers. She seemed like the perfect choice. We paid her a huge sum for one reel, provided clear instructions, and even ran ads to amplify the content. - The reel was polished, and her profile was impressive. - Despite all this, it generated zero sales. - Her audience didn’t seem to connect with our product the way we had hoped. Two weeks later, a fitness enthusiast with only 2,000 followers sent us a message. Her profile was simple, her content was raw, and she shot her videos on her phone. But her message was different: - She said she genuinely loved our product. - She asked thoughtful questions about ingredients and test reports. - She didn’t talk about payments but focused on collaborating because she believed in our brand. We decided to give her a chance, and the results were incredible: - Her authentic approach drove more sales than the bigger influencer’s reel. - Her ability to earn her audience's trust was the game-changer that set her apart. This experience taught me some key lessons: -Follower count doesn’t guarantee success. - Authenticity beats perfection. - Ask the right questions.
