NatRoad is advising government to take bold action to boost productivity, reduce cost of living pressures, improve safety and lower emissions by eliminating most heavy vehicle road access permits by 2028. “We need a new approach to network-based access that slashes red tape for industry and removes administrative burdens for governments.” NatRoad CEO Warren Clark has said. Safe System Snippet - Rural Roundabouts: A Proven Safe System Solution Roundabouts are a well-known rural Safe System treatment, and for good reason. They reduce crashes and crash severity by slowing vehicles on approach, reducing conflict points, and ensuring any collisions happen at safer angles compared to right-angle crashes. That’s why roundabouts earned a spot in the latest Austroads fact sheets on evidence-based road safety initiatives for rural and remote areas. This project, led by Safe System Solutions and CASR, dives into effective treatments, their benefits, practical implementation tips, and estimated crash reductions. Check out the fact sheet to see how these proven strategies can transform regional intersections. Want to learn more? The rate of road deaths on regional and rural roads is more than five times higher than that of major cities. Clear stretches of road, higher speed limits, and less traffic can give people a sense of safety that is not there in built-up areas, but feeling safe isn't the same as being safe. You need to be just as vigilant on rural roads as you are driving anywhere else. www.roadsense.org.au #RuralRoadSafetyMonth #ChooseRoadSafety #BeTheChange #FatalityFreeFuture #roadsense #roadsenseau #roadsafety

#transportation of goods and people have been a work in progress for hundreds of years. What we rarely think about is the process of doing so also moves ideas across the same lines. Back in 1817 the Erie Canal was built to streamline movement along water ways between the Great Lakes and the Atlantic coast. It was originally 40’ wide and 4’ deep, and was very quickly adopted, clogged with horse or mule drawn boats. Operations expanded to lengthen and widen the canal as well as to build locks (like below) to connect to other branches. While the canal is STILL in use today, over time railroads and roads have been built along the same corridor of the canal. And why not? It’s a known route, and why reinvent the wheel if it’s not necessary? It used to take months to move people, products, and ideas. As transportation has evolved, it increased to weeks, days, hours and now - even minutes!! Finding effective ways to increase #productivity while reducing #costs is a long game. It requires vigilant dedication to creative thinking, and being open to others’ ideas. Where will transportation take us in the next 50 years? I have no doubt that the #data we at Geotab are gathering from our #vehicles today will propel the ideas of our current innovators for the future. #family #workation #vacation and a #growthmindset

Local authorities are taking wildly differing approaches to deciding whether or not potholes get fixed, meaning many go unrepaired and continue to pose a risk to road users – especially those on two wheels. That’s according to analysis conducted by the RAC and Channel 4’s Dispatches. tinyurl.com/2nuye2wy (Article credit: Road Safety GB) This is why TyreSafe is a member of the Pothole Partnership. As part of the Pothole Partnership, we recognise the importance of safe and well-maintained roads in ensuring road safety for all. This initiative will not only improve driving conditions but also contribute to reducing the financial burden on road users caused by vehicle repair

Originally designed as a scenic bypass, which avoids heavily traveled areas, offering a more picturesque and leisurely journey, Highway 55 has become a major thoroughfare. This has led to a surge in traffic and a tragic increase in fatal accidents. Our once tranquil route is now struggling to accommodate the growing volume of vehicles, putting lives at risk. We must take immediate action to address this pressing issue. It's time to explore alternative transportation options and invest in infrastructure that can better handle the increased traffic load. We'd love to hear from you! Aside from simply encouraging travelers to be more cautious on Highway 55, what suggestions do you have for alternate routes in our area? #PathwaysForwardIdaho #ScenicBypass #FatalAccidents #SuggestionsWanted #Highway55 #Idaho

#southflorida - while plagued by traffic congestion, a "car-centric" culture, antiquated zoning, and a lack of walkability - the addition of a new public transportation system is welcoming. Effort, however, should be to enhance intra-county/city (east-west) mobility and not a purely linear system. Need a "comprehensive solution. This will take time... #sofloindustrialadviors #CRE https://lnkd.in/e8yHutzq?
