🌱 Public acceptance of #NatureBaseSolutions (#NBS) is driven not only by having experienced a reduction in #ClimateRisk but also by what is valued by local citizens, how they perceive the risks in their local context and how the proposed #NBSMeasure addresses them in their eyes. 👉 Our #LAND4CLIMATE partner DEN Design Entrepreneurship Institute, with colleagues from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) and Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, will be exploring how to measure the co-benefits of NbS, more specifically the socio-economic benefits: https://lnkd.in/dCfegguu

📣 Why bother with a #CommunicationPlan? 👥 In today's world, where #ClimateChange and #environmental degradation pose significant threats to our communities, the adoption of #NatureBasedSolutions (#NBS) has emerged as a promising pathway to #ClimateResilience and #sustainability. However, the success of these solutions depends not only on their scientific efficacy, but also on the active involvement of local stakeholders in their co-production and implementation. 🎯 For this reason, DEN Design Entrepreneurship Institute has, recently, started bilateral calls with each of the front running regions to discuss how they plan to develop their #LocalCommunicationPlans in relation to their #LAND4CLIMATE activities. 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/epZY6bMr

Green Skills for the 21st Century and Education Green entrepreneurship is an area that is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years and revolves around a set of core principles that differentiate it from the usual form of entrepreneurship. We need to be prepared as a society and as educational systems in this direction, but also to properly prepare our trainees by strengthening their education and training. When I interview people from impact initiatives or sustainability projects the trickiest question always seems to be “... how is the project financially sustainable though?” I feel awkward asking it when someone’s just built a school or funded a vaccine programme. No longer. Financial sustainability is fundamental if you want to have a positive impact, and a new generation of social entrepreneurs is being trained to align the two. I spent yesterday with students at the Enactus UK & Ireland Expo, asking them the same questions I’d ask grizzled vets: ✋ “Who pays the waste collectors?” 🎤 “We use the excess heat from the incinerator to power a bakery. The revenue has funded wage increases and allowed some of them to start other businesses.” “… No more questions Taka Taka Durham University 👏 The Expo was a lesson in sustainable business for me, with students from the University of Southampton, Aston University, University of East Anglia, King's College London, pitching concepts that not only had a sustainable impact but (perhaps more importantly) were financially sustainable. If you're in HR or Brand Marketing and want to engage the new generation of talent it's well worth checking out the work Andrew Bacon OBE and his team at Enactus UK & Ireland are doing.
