Protecting children's online safety is essential, and Australia's plan to set a minimum age limit for social media use is a positive step. By restricting access to social media, we can prevent sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands. At National Shred, we understand the importance of data security. Let's work together to keep our kids' information safe and secure. #OnlineSafety #SocialMedia #KidsProtection #DataSecurity

Read this if you don't feel safe online. ⚖️ On Feb. 26, 2024, the Government of Canada introduced the 1st reading of Bill C-63 to enact the Online Harms Act. Bill C-63 will create the Digital Safety Commission (3-5 members) to set and enforce online safety standards. This is how Digital Safety Standards can protect you: ✅ Reduce Harmful Content – Enforce the removal of illegal or harmful content like hate speech, cyberbullying, and child exploitation. ✅ Ensure Privacy – Implement robust data protection measures to safeguard personal information. ✅ Enhance Security – Require strong cybersecurity practices to prevent hacking and data breaches. ✅ Promote Accountability – Hold social media companies accountable for the content they host and their data handling practices. ✅ Provide Support – Offer resources and support for individuals affected by online harms. 💌 This post is part of Myles Ahead's youth-led campaign, #FreeToBeSafe. Visit the link in Bio to send a letter to your MP in support of Bill C-63. 💜 Miigwetch / Thank you! #MylesAhead #BillC63 #OnlineHarmsAct #ChildMentalHealth #YouthMentalHealth #LifePromotion #SuicidePrevention #DigitalSafety

Ensuring Teenage Safety: A Call for Responsible Social Media Usage As parents and responsible citizens, it's crucial for us to address the growing challenges faced by our teenage children, especially in towns and cities like Gilgit-Baltistan. The recent tragic cases of Falak Noor, Inara, Bashran Ali Sakhi and other hundreds of voiceless people serve as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in our digital age. One of the significant contributors to these challenges is the unintentional sharing of personal information on social media platforms. Whether it's celebrating successes, sharing marksheets or certificates, posting birthday and wedding photos, or any other content containing personal details, these seemingly innocent posts can inadvertently expose our children to threats. Criminals with malicious intent often exploit such information to target innocent teenagers. Therefore, it's imperative that we educate ourselves and our children about the importance of security checks on social media platforms. Simple steps like adjusting privacy settings, being cautious about what we share online, and avoiding posting irrelevant personal information can go a long way in safeguarding our safety and security. Let's come together as a community to raise awareness about responsible social media usage. By taking proactive measures and being mindful of what we share, we can create a safer digital environment for ourselves and our children. Stay safe and vigilant, #digitalsecurity #digitalprivacy #mediaethics
