Natasha Ross’ Post

This speaks in spades… excuse the pun. We need more companies #reshoring like #JohnSmedley who’s commitment manufacturing in the UK understanding the demand for Made In The UK as written in #VogueBusiness. A great sustainable practice is not sending our products all around the world to line our back pockets. There always is another way. #SustainablePractice #Sustainability #FashionDesign #SustainableDevelopment #Innovation

10 years ago today since our Patron HM King Charles III, then HRH The Prince of Wales buried two jumpers in the gardens of Clarence House to test the biodegradability of 100% wool vs 100% synthetic fibres. Four months later, Alex James went back to Clarence House to dig them up as part of fashion documentary - Slowing Down Fast Fashion and to see how the experiment was looking. As you can see in a matter of months the wool jumper by John Smedley Ltd had already started to decompose naturally and "feed the roses" whereas the synthetic jumper looks virtually new. 10 years on and this is still a vital message for consumers when making purchasing decisions for all products, not just jumpers. There are many benefits to choosing wool but this is definitely such a important one for the planet.
