Today is Equal Pay Day - it marks 50 days into the new financial year for women to earn the same, on average, as men did last year. Financial Advice for women is something I’m fiercely passionate about. Women are set the be the biggest beneficiaries of Australia’s $3.5 trillion intergenerational wealth transfer, much of which will happen this decade. This could transform markets as well as the wealth management and financial advice industries. While I am no longer a practicing adviser as a result of a workplace psychological injury, and will never be able to return to the career I adored for over 20 years, I would love to see more women engage in individual advice with an adviser that understands the nuances in the provision of female-centric advice (of which there are many). The following advisers specialise in the provision of advice in different life-stages. Trish Gregory CFP® from Fox & Hare Financial Advice Shout out to Fox and Hare who are a progressive business that seem to genuinely care about their employees, which in turn benefits clients. Knowing what I know now, would 100% want to work there. Rebecca Pritchard at Rising Tide Financial Louella Jorge CFP® of Discovery Wealth Advisers (Louella is the Principal of Discovery Wealth, so she has an invested interest in the delivery of client outcomes) Don’t get me wrong, there are male advisers doing a great job in the provision of advice for women; I love and acknowledge this. Unfortunately, I’ve actually had some male advisers say to my face that the gender pay gap is a myth. I’ve put a link in the comments to an article written by Ellevest on the specialist provision of advice for women. For every dollar an Australian man makes, a woman gets 89 cents.     This year Equal Pay Day falls 50 days after the end of the financial year, representing the number of extra days women needed to work to make the same amount as men last year.     The gender pay gap is currently 11.5% in Australia. This has both long and short-term impacts on a woman’s financial security. This Equal Pay Day WAGEC and Stella Insurance are collaborating to empower the women in our communities to achieve financial security. Financial security (or lack thereof) has a huge impact in women’s access to safety and housing. By breaking down taboos, advocating for equality and levelling the playing field, we can increase women’s economic wellbeing. Our partnership and shared passion for women’s financial wellbeing plays a key role in building safer futures for women.

“It’s not fair!” How is it not fair? “I don’t know, it just isn’t!” There have been so many times that I engaged in a dialog like this. You too? At PEQ Performance Consulting LLC we have clients that come to us with an issue that involves a lack of fairness as a sticking point. Sometimes they know it. Other times, the lack of fairness is sneaky, hiding in crevices like feeling depleted and exhausted for never having enough time. His thoughtfulness to reveal layers of the how and what behind pay inequality was incredibly insightful. It was so much more than what is shown on a pay check. What it all came down to is this: What’s behind pay equality in the workplace and how is that practice representative of your #companyculture that keeps and retains talent?
