Earthquake Location & Applied Geology. June 18, 2024. -- The magnitude 4+ earthquake Jamaica experienced on June 18, 2024 was located in a valley closest to Balaclava (St. Elizabeth). Did you know that today (1st October) marks the start of the Hydrological Year? A 'Water Year' is a term that describes the 12 months that are used for calculating total precipitation and determining 'dry years', 'wet years', 'very wet years' etc. It is expected the Met Office will declare September as one of the wettest on record and so likely that the 2024 Water Year (which ended yesterday) will be a record breaker too. #waterresources #drought #rainfall #hydrology
