Could this tool help you as you heal from domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, or coercive control? One of the most horrific consequences of these abuses is the stripping away of the victim's sense of self and autonomy. Could the enneagram be a tool for you to reconnect to who you are, what you value, your strengths, and your challenges? On this week's episode of The Rising Beyond Podcast I talk with my good friend and colleague, Talya Dash LCSW Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapist on how to use the enneagram as a part of your healing journey. And who doesn't like taking a personality-type test? Comment below if you know your enneagram type...I'm a 3 and to listen to this episode... Episode five of How to Have Extraordinary Relationships podcast is with the amazing Lis Cashin...she talks about: How the most important relationship is the one with yourself. Cliched that it is, the "journey" of it. How in the formative years of building her identity she thought there was something inherently wrong with herself. Her relatively recent diagnosis of PTSD. How a car crash was a wake up call to her victim mindset. How she decided that sharing her story was valuable at one point in her healing process, but now just the positive learnings from it. How who she really was/is a wonderful person, but she did not realise it! Her first (and a bit scary) experience of setting boundaries. A simple (if not easy) way to be responsible for our feelings. The "F" word - Forgiveness. A healthy definition. How the "Just Need To" school of thought does not work. How she feels she can help so many people.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE ON PTSD 🎙️ A different take on how people can overcome PTSD from Ex-Military modern-day Shaman Mark Weisman. #PTSDawareness #mentalhealthmatters #veteransupport #firstresponders #shamanhealing #overcomingtrauma #militarymentalhealth
In Alaska, a modern-day Shaman takes phone calls at all hours of the day and night. 📞 🎖️The calls come from veterans and first responders (or someone he's helped before). They've heard he can help get them out of the mental prison that PTSD has made for them. 🛟 🌱 So he spends his time walking alongside them, teaching them how to rebuild a life where they might find happiness again. You can hear how he does it in this week's episode of the If By Chance podcast (the link is in the comments). 🎧

Pretending to be normal doesn’t always work, no matter how hard you try. This week on It's OK, Stephanie Foo, author of #WhatMyBonesKnow, joins me to talk about complex PTSD and the ways we pathologize human responses to trauma. You’ll also hear how claiming your own messy, complex coping mechanisms can help you build a community that sees you and loves you. If you’re haunted by any type of trauma, or know someone who is, don't miss this week's episode of It’s OK that You’re Not OK! This conversation is a great introduction to complex PTSD, and the work of #survivorship. We're re-releasing some of our favorite episodes from the first 3 seasons. This episode was originally recorded in 2022. 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐨. 𝟐 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭'𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 Welcome to a personal story of resilience. I’m sharing my journey of overcoming pornography addiction, something I recently opened up about on the "How to Heart" podcast. My hope is that this story brings insight and support to those who need it most. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞 & 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭. What began as a curiosity became a daily habit that controlled my life and affected my self-esteem and relationships. My addiction led me to emotional detachment, as real intimacy faded into the background. 𝐀 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭. My recovery began when I finally admitted my struggle. Seeking help was tough but necessary, opening the door to change and self-acceptance. Therapy, support groups, and healthier habits helped me reclaim my life and relationships. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. One of the biggest lessons has been realizing that vulnerability is strength. By opening up, I’ve connected with others who understand, reminding us all that we’re not alone. If you or someone you know is facing similar struggles, remember—help is out there. Together, let’s break the stigma and create a world where open dialogue brings healing.
