🚨 Major Aged Care Reforms Are Here! 🚨 According to the Australian Government, after garnering bi-partisan support, recent reforms to the aged care system will mark a transformative step towards quality, accessibility, and sustainability for older Australians. Like most official documentation when it comes to deciphering policy, the devil can sometimes be lost in the detail. Here is a summary of the key changes, ✔ Aged Care Bill 2024: Commencing July 2025, this rights-based legislation emphasises person-centred care and strengthens protections for aged care recipients. ✔ Increased Funding for Home Care: $4.3 billion will deliver 300,000 new home care packages, supporting older Australians to stay at home longer. ✔ Support at Home Program: Streamlining services to improve in-home care access and simplify support systems. ✔ Workforce Growth: $88.4 million to address aged care workforce challenges, with a focus on regional and remote areas. For the Aged Care & Medical team, we trust these reforms will also support the industries that are on the front lines by strengthening collaboration among all key stakeholders to solve accessibility challenges. In short, giving those who wish to remain at home, the practical supports they need to do so! We’re committed to working with all areas of the industry from occupational therapists, case managers, and care providers to next of kin, AT equipment manufacturers, government bodies and most importantly our end clients to deliver innovative solutions, from assistive technologies to home modifications. 💡 Let's start a conversation about how we can collaborate to practically solve the challenges of accessibility at home, one client at a time, on budget and without fuss! That’s real test on whether these Aged Care reforms really will deliver transformative change for older Australians. 💡 #AgedCareReforms #AccessibilityMatters #AgedCareAndMedical #PartneringForChange #AgedcareAdvocacy #HomeCare #OccupationalTherapy #HomeModifications #CPDfortheOT

The ageing population is a demographic trend that has been steadily increasing across Australia, leading to an increased demand for aged care services. With this surge in demand comes the challenge for aged care homes to efficiently fill their bed vacancies. However, navigating the complexities of the aged care system can be daunting for both families seeking care and providers alike.
