Unlock the power of "earned" secure attachment in EMDR therapy! Bonnie Badenoch shares in her book "Being A Brain-Wise Therapist" that secure attachment isn't just inherited—it can be cultivated through reparative relationships when clients feel seen, soothed, safe, and secure.. As EMDR practitioners, we have a unique opportunity to create this healing environment. Through bilateral stimulation and our attuned presence, we can help clients rewire their attachment patterns. Imagine empowering your clients to form healthier relationships and build resilience. That's the transformative potential of integrating attachment theory with EMDR! #emdroftherockies #EMDRtherapy #attachmenttheory #EMDRIA

Ruh-minations: Cognitive Interweaves Class Cognitive interweaves are one of the hardest concepts for EMDR therapists to learn. Once you understand how and when to use them, they can really deepen the work you do with clients and can actually be fun. Just a reminder that I have an on-demand class on Cognitive Interweaves available through Thinkific. It is a three-hour EMDRIA-approved class. Have you ever wondered what EMDR actually looks like? This is a DEMO of a real EMDR Therapy Session online with EMDRIA-Certified EMDR Therapist & Approved EMDR Consultant Robert Grigore. https://lnkd.in/eZzJYE4T Nothing is scripted here. The client is NOT a paid actor. The client has fully consented to the use of her session on YouTube and anywhere else online, and has been made aware of the potential for thousands to view. Inside the video you'll see Phase 3-8 of the Standard EMDR Protocol, along with my therapeutic interventions and clinical reasoning behind them. Please note that this video has some explicit language and themes that may not be suitable for all audiences. Be mindful that if you feel triggered during the viewing of this video to please stop and call 9-1-1 if your safety becomes an urgent concern, or 9-8-8 if you would like to speak with a 24/7 national suicide hotline in Canada. The client describes her mother's narcissistic traits, and the emotional trauma and neglect she encountered as a child (viewer discretion is advised). The client's transformation may not be the same transformation that others may experience. If you enjoy the video and would like to discover if EMDR or Total Immersion EMDR is a good fit for you, you are encouraged to schedule a free consultation with us. https://lnkd.in/eqm6f9kj Software used for EMDR processing is REMDR (https://remdr.online). #emdrtherapy #counsellingprocess #emdrdemo #demo #narcissism #narcissisticmother #narcissisticmothers #emotionaltrauma #remdr #clientsuccessstories #emdrclient #therapyclients #courageouswomen #selfcare #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #innerchild #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing #innerchildtherapy #healing #robertgrigore #grigorecounselling #emdria #eyemovementdesensitizationandreprocessing

Screening for Dissociation: A Critical Step in EMDR Why is dissociation screening non-negotiable before starting EMDR? Because: - Unrecognized dissociation can destabilize clients - Standard EMDR protocols may need modification - Safety and stabilization become top priorities - Different resourcing techniques may be required - Processing pace needs careful calibration As EMDR practitioners, our first responsibility is client safety. So it is TRUE that we must properly screen for dissociative symptoms prior to administering EMDR therapy. We recommend the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES) or the gold-standard Multidimensional Inventory of Dissociation (MID). Proper screening with the DES or MID helps us: - Choose appropriate protocols - Maintain therapeutic safety - Build necessary stabilization skills - Prevent overwhelm - Create tailored treatment plans Want to learn more about safe and effective EMDR? Ruh-minations: Getting Stuck I see a lot of questions on EMDR groups about what to do when clients get stuck. Then I see a lot of creative answers. The EMDR Institute manual, which I teach from for HAP/Trauma Recovery gives these suggestions: 1. Change speed, direction, type of BLS. 2. Interweaves 3. Feeder memories 4. Blocking beliefs 5. Ecological soundness (but this is really rare) The reason I am posting this is because all the other creative solutions should happen AFTER we try these. I think sometimes we get nervous when EMDR therapy doesn’t seem to be “working” and we jump from reprocessing. Sometimes this jumping away from Phase 4 is too soon and unnecessary. The one exception is any concern about dissociation. Then you do want to pause and go back to re-assessment. #EMDRtherapy #EMDRtraining #EMDReducation

How can se use EMDR therapy to get resolve the dysfunctional behavior/emotions/beliefs. Research on dysfunctional positive affect. Resource to teach clients who can imagine a shield that would protect them from critical statements, accusations, unpleasant comments, etc.

In scanning online forums I've come across some cases where ART led to a worsening of symptoms, for months. I know there are cases like this with EMDR too, and they are usually with clients who are working with inexperienced providers or had symptoms activated but did not give the protocols a chance to work with additional sessions. I think this speaks more to the flexibility and competency of clinicians. EMDR therapists can integrate many of ART’s techniques, such as guiding clients to notice body sensations or rescripting imagery, but the reverse isn’t true—ART therapists aren’t trained in the wider range of EMDR protocols. This means that EMDR-trained therapists can adapt their approach to meet each client’s unique needs, while ART’s structure limits flexibility. If you’re a therapist considering training, keep this in mind: EMDR offers versatility that empowers you to shape the therapy experience to what works best for your clients.
