Ever wondered how fringe is made? Tassles are use for a variety of purposes, with one being the fringe at the ends of a scarf. Fringe is often attached retrospectively because real fringe is warp knitted and therefore structurally different to the main scarf body. This U.K. manufacturer is the only one left in the country now producing fringe product, albeit with machinery dating back to 1940s Italy. They can use almost any yarn in any weight. “When parts break on a modern machine, you end up dealing with electronics, firmware, updates, sensors. When a part breaks on this, we just go to the workshop next door and make a new copy!” It’s great to see businesses like this one weathering the storm. With clients like Laura Ashley, costume-makers for BBC Strictly Come Dancing, and now us for our new Adidas x Juventus collaboration, it’s heartening to know that there’s still someone stubborn and dedicated enough to want to carry on this line of work.
This is so awesome- I love content like this √ as a product person and lover of all innovation...I think it's a great reminder to see the beauty in the details and not take it for granted all that entails creating amazing and beautifully made products.
One company I worked for used to make scarves like that in Como, Italy, it’s lovely to watch them being woven on a loom :)
Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful machine! Which company is this?
Amazzzzzzing
I find myself loving old machines far more than the latest tech gadgets.
