Every RL problem or task can be defined using the Gymnasium API! 🎁 Comet integrates with Gymnasium. Our project was chosen 1st place in “Google Developer Student Clubs Hackathon 2024”. The challenge was to develop and code an idea on sustainability for smart cities in 24 hours. We developed the idea of an AI-powered smart garbage bin that separates waste types and drop them into the relevant container. We created a deep learning model using the MobileNetV2 architecture to classify waste types. We mentioned that this model will work on the embedded system of the smart bin. In addition, the data obtained with the weight sensor in the smart bin and stored in the cloud environment. Data in the cloud environment is processed and converted into valuable information such as capacity information and estimated capacity filling time. And this information is displayed simultaneously for each smart bin in the prototype web interface we created with streamlit. In this way, action will be taken according to capacity filling times, enabling waste collection vehicles to create shortest-path more efficiently. Thanks to my teammates Ayhan Bozkurt and Melisa Ulukaplan for their efforts. We also want to thank GDSC Eskişehir Osmangazi University for organizing this competition.
