Did you know? An estimated 244 million children were out of school in 2021, including 67 million primary school children, 57 million adolescents, and 121 million youth of upper secondary school age. This staggering number highlights a critical gap in global education, leaving millions of young minds without the opportunity to learn and grow. 🌍 At NABU, we're dedicated to bridging this gap through innovative literacy initiatives. 📚💡 Our mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive through reading. By providing equal access to literacy education, we empower children around the world to reach their full potential. We believe that every child deserves the chance to learn, regardless of their circumstances. Through our books and program, we aim to foster a love for reading, enhance language skills, and support lifelong learning. In the heart of Kenya, amidst the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes, lies a beacon of hope for children seeking education and empowerment, there exists a haven where children’s dreams soar, and their potentials are unleashed. Children in Freedom School (CIFS), an Afrocentric institution embarks on enlightening and empowering kids and their families. Holistic Education Approach CIFS embraces a holistic approach to education, recognizing that academic excellence is just one facet of a child’s development. A well-rounded curriculum encompassing academic subjects, life skills, and extracurricular activities encourages students to explore their interests, unleash their creativity, and cultivate critical thinking skills. Language is an essential tool in shaping identity and CIFS recognizes and uses mother tongues in teaching the children to love themselves. This is what the modern day school on the continent of Africa should emulate. We deserve and should encourage our children to be the best versions of themselves, anywhere in the world. Engr. Oku kanayo and Dr Utheri Kanayo are doing a great job at CIFS, and it’s lovely to see the progress they have made. Kudos to the team and well done. 👍🏾 #childreninfreedomschol #mindset #growthmindset #identity #afrocentric #kenya #africanlanguages #languageafrik #education #empowerment

Building confidence is an important part of supporting children who have been out of school and experienced learning loss. 📚 In Nepal, Street Child is grouping children so they learn at the right pace for them, rather than grouping them by their age, as part of our Teaching at the Right Level programme (TaRL). This helps children build their confidence to continue learning, receiving the education they deserve. The TaRL methodology focuses on building foundational skills, compared to the traditional focus on covering curriculum. Students are assessed regularly and moved to appropriate groups as they progress. This means each student is getting the quality education they need 🎒🌟 #Nepal #EducationMatters #InclusiveEducation

The Origins of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) started in 1997 to provide a well-rounded education for children aged 3 to 12. A group of international educators created it to focus on best practices in teaching and learning, going beyond national boundaries. The PYP emphasizes inquiry-based learning, encouraging kids to explore their interests and think critically. It connects different subjects through themes, helping students see how knowledge relates to the world around them. This approach fosters a love for learning and develops important skills for the future. Today, the PYP is offered in over 150 countries. Its focus on the whole child ensures that students grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally, preparing them to be active and caring members of a global community. . . . . . #IBPYP #PrimaryYearsProgramme #InquiryBasedLearning #GlobalEducation #ChildDevelopment #HolisticEducation #InternationalBaccalaureate #EducationForAll

We were commissioned to deliver an evaluation of a programme to equip early years practitioners with techniques to further children's social, language, and literacy development. Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) In Learning Language and Loving It (LLLI) settings, children made, on average, the equivalent of one month’s additional progress in language development compared to children in the controlled settings. There is, however, statistical uncertainty in these findings. The implementation and process evaluation found evidence of improvement in nursery practitioners’ practice and an increase in both the quantity and quality of interactions with children.
