Celebrating NABERS’ 25-year journey of sustainability through innovation For 25 years, NABERS has been at the forefront of driving change in the built environment. From the transformative Commercial Building Disclosure program to expanding internationally and launching tools for embodied carbon, schools, and retail, we’ve innovated to meet the evolving challenges of a changing world. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration of countless sustainability champions across government, industry, and business. Together, we’ve set benchmarks, inspired progress, and shown what’s possible when we work toward a shared vision. “This is a powerful story about what is possible when government jurisdictions work together with industry in partnership, to deliver change neither could deliver in isolation.” said Carlos Flores, Director at NABERS. As we reflect on these milestones, we look ahead with the same commitment to innovation and collaboration, working toward Australia’s Net Zero goals. Fascinating strategy! What is the move when your company’s Scope 3 Category 1 emissions (Purchased Goods and Services) make up over 60% of your total GHG emissions—and those have spiked by 18% in the past year? Simple. Invent a new category like 'Race Team Control Footprint.' Then, cherry-pick the emissions that make you look good (the ones that decreased) and conveniently exclude the 60% that's been climbing. Suddenly, you're showcasing a 10% emissions reduction—thanks to SAFc—while glossing over the fact that your overall emissions actually went up by 7%. And for the finishing touch? Get a sustainability magazine to applaud your 'remarkable' progress. A great case of 'greenwashing' communication (whale) Frédéric Dalsace or creative GHG accounting Garen Markarian
I’m really proud to let you know that Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team has been featured as a cover story in Sustainability Magazine’s August edition! The feature showcases the significant strides we’ve made in the space this year, as detailed in our Sustainability Report that we published last month. Although the article focuses on the environmental initiatives the team is working on across the company, on and off track, all elements of ESG are important to us. Formula One is arguably the most exciting sport to be working in sustainability, and innovation is at the forefront of what we’re trying to achieve. You’ll also be able to read thoughts from our Head of Sustainability, Alice Ashpitel as well as one of our fantastic partners Michael Baldinger, Chief Sustainability Officer, UBS. Don’t miss their insights in this fantastic article by Charlie King!
