Hope Isn’t Rare
At the Myhre Syndrome Foundation, we’re constantly inspired by the incredible people at the heart of our mission: the children, the adults, the families, and the advocacy driven by a community that’s small but mighty.
Myhre syndrome may be very rare, but the hope we’ve created together feels anything but.
Every dollar you give fuels life-changing progress—for individuals, for families, and for every step forward toward treatments and, one day, a cure.
Join us. Be part of the hope. Because while Myhre syndrome may be rare, hope isn’t.

🌟 September is National Recovery Month 🌟
At Plugged In Recovery, we're proud to stand with millions of individuals, families, and communities who have been touched by the journey of recovery. National Recovery Month is a time to celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of those who have faced addiction and emerged stronger.
Recovery is not just a personal journey—it's a community effort. At Plugged In Recovery, we’re committed to supporting individuals every step of the way. Our programs combine modern approaches with time-tested traditions, ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors receives the care and support they deserve.
This month, we honor those who continue to fight for their sobriety, those who have found their way back to health, and the families and friends who support them. Recovery is possible, and together, we can build a brighter future for all.
Let’s use this month to raise awareness, break the stigma, and show that recovery is something to be celebrated.
💜 If you or someone you know is ready to take that step, our team at Plugged In Recovery is here to help.

Many individuals seek to break free from addiction—whether it’s substance use, gambling, codependence, or other struggles—and THRIVE’s recovery-focused blogs offer the information, inspiration, and community support needed to navigate this journey successfully.
At THRIVE, we believe in empowering individuals to not just survive but thrive in recovery. Please follow us at THRIVELI.org for more insights and resources.
Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we at Life's Oasis Vallarta join the global community in honouring the lives lost and those forever changed by drug overdose. This day is a solemn reminder of the profound grief felt by families and friends who have lost their loved ones. We stand with you in your sorrow, acknowledging the pain and the journey of healing.
Let us unite to raise awareness about overdose, reduce the stigma surrounding drug-related deaths, and spread a message of hope. By fostering understanding and compassion, we can support those in recovery and work towards preventing further tragedies. Together, we can make a difference, one life at a time.

Every life is unique and invaluable. Changing the narrative on suicide begins with us. By listening with compassion and without judgment, we can support those in distress or experiencing suicidal thoughts, creating hope and connection. Encouraging people to seek help, and standing by the loved ones of those lost to suicide, ensures no one feels alone.

For my fellows in AA, this message is for you. Across the recovery sphere, members are being ostracized for seeking alternative therapies to address "outside issues"—issues and therapies on which we are supposed to have no opinion.
Members are being punished and expelled from their recovery groups and fellowships due to ignorance, judgment, and misinformation, in direct violation of our Traditions. As a result, they find themselves as isolated and alone as when they first walked into the rooms. Can you imagine the devastation of that?? WE MUST DO BETTER!
In memory of Mark, I want to remind us all of some quotes from the long form of Tradition One: "Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon AA unity."
🎆 UNITY - "Our lives, the lives of all to come, depend squarely upon it."
🎇 "No AA can compel another to do anything; nobody can be punished or expelled."
🎆 "His life actually depends upon obedience to spiritual principles." (Mark was doing just that.)
Not only does AA literature emphasize that we must stay together or we will surely die, but Johann Hari, the author of 'Chasing the Scream', also said, "The opposite of addiction is not recovery; the opposite of addiction is connection." Hari's work underscores the importance of addressing the root causes of addiction, such as social isolation and lack of meaningful relationships, as crucial for effective recovery.
If this is true, why are we sending people away?

Mark Guckel, RCPF died by suicide on May 25th this year. He was an incredibly passionate, intelligent, and open minded person.
Mark asked me to share his final thoughts, and I’d like to honor his memory by doing so. Mark suffered in silence with a variety of symptoms that were trauma based. He was a person who was able to make progress in his recovery through the use of psychedelic medicine.
Because of this there were times Mark did not feel welcomed within the recovery community.
We must do better to welcome all different pathways within the recovery community. Your joy and presence will be missed Mark. I still had so much more to learn from you.
Through science focused on the mind we continue to learn more ways to help more people struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. Let’s all welcome those in their journey to recovery. If addiction is a disease it should be allowed the same benefit of other diseases - to find relief through medicine, science and discovery. Let’s not shame people for their journey. It is a continuing science and we don’t know what we don’t know. Keep an open mind.
