News: A Partnership Between OpenAI and Stack Overflow Read about the partnership here: https://lnkd.in/d4UmbRdb I was initially concerned about the impact of LLMs on Stack Overflow. However, this partnership between Stack Overflow and OpenAI appears to be a practical solution. Integrating Stack Overflow's data with OpenAI's AI capabilities will provide developers with enhanced tools. I'm looking forward to seeing the advancements in development tools. I believe a similar approach could also benefit healthcare. LLMs could encourage more Q&A within the medical community by providing users with references rather than direct answers. This would improve the quality of content generated by LLMs and enhance the community's overall efficiency. #StackOverflow #OpenAI #LLMs #DeveloperTools #FutureOfWork #HealthcareInnovation ---------------------------------------------------------------------- We also plan to make curated and tailored information for your child. Embracing the Future Much? The Stack Overflow & OpenAI Partnership 🚀 This week's announcement of the Stack Overflow and OpenAI partnership might be a pivotal - and understated - moment in AI's systematic integration into modern life (a moment called out internally by our own Joshua Clifford Reyes). [Stack Overflow and OpenAI Partnership Announcement](https://lnkd.in/gRx2DtyU) As a technology services firm deeply rooted in software engineering, 33BONDI is keenly observing how this collaboration will shape the human software development landscape. Stack Overflow, a vital resource for developers seeking peer-reviewed solutions and support, will now aid OpenAI in enhancing the accuracy of its language models by providing access to a wealth of validated community responses. What does this mean? OpenAI will ingest real-world, problem-solving dialogues from the human developer community to train its models, enhancing AI's capability to support or even automate large swathes of human development tasks. Great, right? But also, a bit...concerning? Could this fast-track the redundancy of certain human developer tasks? It’s not just a possibility; you can bet the house on it. We're unsure if this is a classic "if you can't beat them, join them" scenario. Probably. Technologists, by nature, are generally not threatened by innovation. Quite the opposite. Thankfully, they are often clear-eyed about risks - for example, see the AI Statement on risk (https://lnkd.in/eiSTjmdc). Interesting times indeed! Definetly a smart move by OpenAI. The future quality of AI will be 100% dependent on the quality and legality of its data sources, so for better developer insights for OpenAI, this is gold. Progress! Gobble, gobble, gobble. 💭 💭 💭 💭 What do you think about this partnership? How do you see it impacting developers' roles? The OpenAI and Stack Overflow partnership was announced today. The first results will be visible in the first half of 2024. Both sides will benefit from cooperation. OpenAI plans to improve its own models on data from Stack Overflow. This means a huge portion of data on very technical, software, programming (including a lot of code!) and development topics in general. Stack Overflow plans to significantly improve its AI-based services included in OverflowAI thanks to models from OpenAI. Here you can read more about what OverflowAI is: https://lnkd.in/dQfd8Wte #OpenAI #StackOverflow #LLM #AI https://lnkd.in/gzQKFfAn https://lnkd.in/gRx2DtyU

OpenAI and StackOverflow: mixed feelings .. On one hand I see the potential for a better search, community-driven feedback, etc. But also the potential for a lot of noise and poor answers. What do you guys think? https://lnkd.in/e6ZtmzZq

This post sheds light on OpenAI's latest innovation, Predicted Outputs, aimed at minimizing latency during text or code alterations. This feature, exclusive to GPT-4o and GPT-4o-mini models, empowers developers by predicting outcomes based on existing content, especially beneficial for code refactoring with minor adjustments. While promising, Predicted Outputs do come with restrictions, such as the inability to work seamlessly with specific API parameters like function calling and handling multiple completions. These limitations underscore the need for developers to navigate potential constraints when leveraging this cutting-edge tool. #OpenAI #PredictedOutputs #GPT4o #Innovation

If you can't beat them, join them! The partnership between OpenAI and StackOverflow was pretty much expected to happen. I have covered the news in the past that Stack Overflow saw a decline in traffic that prompted the company to adapt to these changing times with a new product called OverflowAI. The difference now is that OpenAI will use StackOverflow content to improve their answers. Is that correct? Should a multi-million company like OpenAI resell the free advice of millions of developers without compensating them? What do you think? https://lnkd.in/eup7vuQn

How can I set up an AI model that has access to my internal database? I've been playing around with OpenAI's Assistants API quite a bit to answer that question. Turns out its pretty easy to do and works fairly well! I wrote a guide on how to set up a customized assistant that can read your documentation and query your internal data. Feel free to read here -> https://lnkd.in/gkvUdbfn

This news on OpenAI partnering with Stackoveflow is timely based on a discussion I had with R. Muzaffer Musal this weekend. Having a basis in licensed content to train models is a good way forward. Moreover, at this point we still need people to continue to provide the next knowledge set for emerging areas for the copilots we use. These types of partnerships that value the act of data and information creation hopefully enable us to experiment with and explore new economic models for businesses and also provide a means for governments to learn as well. https://lnkd.in/gVCurxtQ
