🍄 From crop waste to fashion: MYCL | Mycotech Lab buys leftover palm fibre and shells from farmers and combines it with fungi. The result? A sustainable leather alternative that can be used in shoes, clothes, bags, and more. With this, MYCL tackles two major problems: crop-waste burning and harmful leather production. 🌟 Based in #Indonesia, they have ambitions to bring their mycelium technology to Japan and Singapore, and then more widely across Asia and Europe. MYCL — also part of the Amplifier Programme by Temasek Trust ecosystem entities Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP) and Philanthropy Asia Alliance — is creating local jobs for farmers and artisans and scaling rapidly through partnerships with major fashion designers. On 6 Nov 2024, The Earthshot Prize (TEP) awards ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa, will announce five winning solutions. 🌏 Temasek Trust is a Global Alliance Founding Partner of TEP. We are excited to collaborate with TEP and other like-minded #partners from both our ecosystems to spotlight #Asia in the fight against climate change, celebrate transformative solutions and eco-innovators, and support them in their efforts to deliver #impact at speed and at scale. Stay tuned for highlights from Earthshot Week!
