🧠 Spotting Early Signs of Dementia Through Walking Patterns 🧠🚶♂️ A new study reveals that difficulties in walking curved paths could be an early indicator of cognitive decline. Unlike walking in a straight line, navigating curves demands more complex coordination and motor skills, which can challenge those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Researchers suggest incorporating simple curved walking tests into routine assessments to significantly enhance early diagnosis and intervention opportunities for dementia. 🔄 This non-invasive and cost-effective method could soon be accessible through everyday technology, like smartphone cameras, making preliminary assessments possible in the comfort of your home. Understanding these subtle signs can lead to earlier support and treatment, potentially slowing the progression of dementia. Let's walk this path together in raising awareness and supporting early detection! 🧡 Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3VgUziZ #DementiaAwareness #CognitiveHealth #EarlyDetection #MentalHealth #inhomeconciergecare #tpctn

VILPA consists of brief, relatively intense sporadic activities done as a part of everyday life. Eg. choosing stairs over lifts (at a moderate pace), carrying heavy grocery bags and walking a distance, completing physical household chores, brisk walking, and engaging in high-energy games with kids. In the Nature Medicine study, non-exercisers who engaged in VILPA, as assessed using a wearable device, for 1-2 minutes at a time, 3 times per day, had up to a 40% reduction in all-cause, and cancer mortality, and an almost 50% reduction in cardiovascular disease mortality. So, go on and engage in quick vigorous day-to-day activities and reap its health benefits. SVT or Panic Attack? 🫀 SVT (Supraventricular Tachycardia) is a condition where the heart suddenly beats much faster than normal, often between 150-250 bpm—typically higher than during a panic attack. 👉While panic attacks may cause a rapid heart rate, they’re usually accompanied by overwhelming anxiety, and heart rates rarely reach the same intensity as SVT. The danger of SVT lies in its unpredictability and the strain it puts on your heart, especially if episodes last for several hours. Left untreated, SVT can increase the risk of heart failure or lead to other complications. SVT often goes undetected because episodes can stop abruptly, and symptoms may not always seem severe. However, tracking your heart rate with a smartwatch or fitness tracker can be a helpful tool in identifying irregular spikes, alerting you to when medical attention is needed. If you notice an unusually high heart rate (150+ bpm) that doesn’t seem linked to stress, anxiety or vigorous physical exercise, and if the episode lasts for more than 20 minutes / you feel faint, dizzy, or experience chest pain, it’s important to go to the ER or call an ambulance. 🚑 For more information or to schedule a heart or vascular checkup with our team, contact us at 1300 887 997 or email adminteam@cvs.net.au. #perthvascularscan #ultrasoundperth #cardiology #perthcardiologist #hearthealth #cardiologist #cardiactesting #vascularhealth #perthvascular #perthultrasound #perthwellness #wellnesswa #perthlifestyle #mountlawley #perthsmallbusiness #leederville #perthpeople #perthfamilies #perthhappenings #mtlawley #perthprofessionals #melbournehospital #melbournehealth #melbournefamily #melbournewellness #mentalhealthmelbourne #perthmentalhealth #melbournedoctor #melbournegp #melbournebusiness

Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) will begin testing wearable devices for patients with severe asthma. The device will allow patients to measure and record their sleep patterns, pulse rate, activity levels, and lung-function. This will facilitate the detection of significant changes in their condition, and allow for early intervention and treatment. "It is a further example of how TUH is embracing technology to further improve patient care so that we can continue in our mission to become a hospital without walls," TUH CEO Lucy Nugent. Asthma is the most common chronic respiratory disease in Ireland, with approximately 1 in 10 of the population asthmatic.
