With the proliferation of marijuana use, important reminder: Don't drive while high! For users and non-users (who can influence friends or might get hit), good article on latest research: https://lnkd.in/gCjpG6Uk "Inhalation of marijuana may impair driving skills for about six to eight hours, while edibles can impair them for eight to 12 hours, according to guidelines published in 2022 in the International Journal of Drug Policy." "THC impairs driving in numerous ways, researchers say, and differently than alcohol. People who are high tend to drive more slowly. The drug affects your ability to maintain position in a lane, reaction time, following distance and overall judgment, says Metrik. It also reduces your ability to maintain divided attention, which is doing multiple things at the same time, like shifting attention from the dashboard to the road. In Ontario, Canada, emergency department visits that resulted from cannabis-involved traffic injuries, nearly half of the people were admitted to the hospital and 30% were admitted to the intensive care unit, according to research published last year" https://lnkd.in/g5_5kwFr #emergencymedicine #drivingsafety #marijuana #traumacare #transportationsafety

Big Pot is using the Big Tobacco playbook: fraudulent medical claims to make their product seem healthy not harmful. Medical marijuana is a complete fraud. There is no medical benefit from smoking pot (90% of pot users smoke it). Moreover, pot aka cannabis is harmful and causes psychosis, suicide, cancer, lung disease, IQ and memory loss, DUIs and worst case violence. Cannabis should remain a Schedule 1 drug. Why allow the creation of another giant addiction for profit industry to prey on our kids? Especially one that can destroy their mental health and their minds.
When health concerns about cigarettes began to receive public attention in the 1930s, tobacco companies took preemptive action. They capitalized on the public's trust of physicians in order to quell concerns about the dangers of smoking. Thus was born the use of physicians in cigarette advertisements. Big Marijuana = Big Tobacco 2.0 #MarijuanaCrisis

The election is coming soon... do your homework.. Some states have recreational marijuana on the ballot. Do you know what happens "when mixed together, alcohol and marijuana can create unpleasant side effects." And impairment is much higher. The problem is when driving there is no impairment test for marijuana. All am asking is to look at SAFETY .. will People drive while using... you bet.... look at the stats in states where it is legal. Will people use before or at work ... you bet.. there are stats on that too. https://lnkd.in/gqKEqgAq

You may think you’re ok to drive an hour or two after you get high on marijuana, but researchers say you’re not. Pot affects you differently than alcohol and can linger in your system longer, making it difficult to figure out when it’s safe to drive. The percentage of motor-vehicle crash fatalities involving cannabis is rising. THC impairs driving in so many ways and is different than alcohol. People who drive high, tend to drive more slowly and the drug affects your ability to maintain your position in a lane, your reaction time, following distance, and overall judgment. It also reduces your ability to maintain divided attention, which is the ability to do multiple things at the same time – mandatory for driving. Our advice? Don’t drive when high…period.
