The NHS England Priorities and Operational Planning Guidance 2024/25 has recently been released and Steve Wightman, Commercial Director at The Access Group, shared his opinion about this #NHS publication: “The long-awaited publication of NHS England’s planning guidance gives some welcomed clarity to the ambitious productivity plans for 2024/2025. And with clear opportunities for digital and data to underpin many of the recommendations, it’s good to see the recommitment to strategic plans, such as ‘A plan for digital health and care’ and ‘Data Saves Lives’. Plus, further details on how the NHS can utilise the £3.4 billion technology investment from the Spring Budget to progress the levelling up agenda. We’ve seen first-hand how the use of integrated digital solutions can help providers breakdown the friction between healthcare boundaries, improve patient flow and reduce waiting times. A key part of our integrated care vision is an intelligent digital care record which combines multiple data sources in one place, giving you a real-time view of the record from various care settings. It’s vital that these examples are scaled up at a system-wide level as part of the plans to implement the guidance and help empower decision making based on the most reliable data.” Read the full guidance here: https://ow.ly/vAyW50RQyhu. #Health #Care #Healthcare #Patient #DigitalCare #NHSEngland #OperationalPlanning #DigitalHealth #DataSavesLives #HealthTech #IntegratedCare #PatientFlow #HealthcareIT #HealthcareInnovation #StrategicPlanning

One of the challenges in keeping our #healthcaresystems sustainable will be the ability to keep care close to home and in the right setting. #Integratedcare across settings is the inroad to that and we will need integrated Electronic Health Records to realize that. The healthcare sector is now entering the era of the unified electronic health record (EHR) that brings together data from disparate sources and organizes it in a smart way that can help drive clinical decision making across settings. Developing regional- or national-level EHRs is a complex data integration project that needs a clear vision across settings and buy in from all the stakeholders to ensure that the system is actually used and embraced by all healthcare professionals and citizens. The payoffs in creating regional or national level EHRs can be substantial in terms of improvements to efficiency, productivity, cost control and patient and healthcare professional experiences. For countries and territories looking to roll out regional health record systems, learning lessons from other jurisdictions can be helpful. Our new Healthcare Foresight article by Alberto De Negri provides an overview of the work Italy is doing to roll out EHRs widely within its regions to connect different layers of health providers.
