U.S. companies are grappling with a severe shortage of IT professionals, driven by rapid technological advances and insufficient domestic talent. This talent gap is straining businesses, leading to higher costs, delayed projects, and intense competition for skilled workers. To fill this void, companies are increasingly turning to offshoring to India and nearshoring to Mexico. However, these strategies present significant challenges. Offshoring to India has long been a solution due to its vast pool of IT talent. Yet, U.S. immigration policies, particularly the H-1B visa restrictions, create barriers, with stringent quotas and long processing delays hindering the movement of skilled professionals. Additionally, there’s often a mismatch between the skills of Indian graduates and the evolving demands of U.S. companies. Furthermore, India’s growing domestic tech industry is keeping more talent within the country, reducing the number of professionals willing to relocate to the U.S. Nearshoring with Mexico offers advantages like proximity, cultural alignment, and similar time zones, but it also comes with challenges. 75% of employers around the world are struggling to fill open positions in 2024. That's a startling statistic, and it's not just a regional issue. From Japan, where the impact is the highest, to economies across the globe, companies are facing a talent shortage crisis. What's causing this talent scarcity?
