It's common knowledge that colouring and tracing letters: -helps improve hand/eye coordination. -helps with recognizing colours and letters via repetition. -helps with building confidence for future writing and artwork. We also know that preschool kids are in 'the sponge stage'. I believe there may be a more eloquent phrase. So, why not combine colouring, tracing letters with language acquisition? Get them used to see words in a foreign language and associating them with the picture. Get them tracing over the letters in those words, and let's see some sponge work at play. Sponge it up. Sponge it up.

As teachers, we are constantly looking to find mistakes! We do that in hope to correct them later on or on the spot depending on the type of the error the Ss have made/are making! But after some years of teaching, this regular error correction can become a part of our character; and that ,I believe, is scary! Sometimes when people make mistakes while talking, I cannot get back on the track and listen attentively anymore, sometimes I correct my friends impulsively; sometimes, I struggle to watch a video, simply because there was/is a spelling mistake in the subtitle. 😅 OMG, braiiiinnn, STOP!!! These days, I am working on it, no more grammar and pronunciation corrections if I am not aked to! Does it relate?

Explicit phonics instruction is the best way to ensure your child has the ability to read (decode) and spell (encode) words with automaticity, required for fluent reading. Fluent readers enjoy reading stories, which develops the imagination and increase their ability to write interesting stories.

Grammar crammer Amphibology is a phrase or sentence that is grammatically ambiguous eg She sees more of her children than her husband. Another example: “Call me a taxi.” This could be a request to summon a taxi, but it could also be interpreted as a request to be referred to as a taxi. In the case of the picture, it would appear that you would need to have all four of the conditions described in order to use the toilet! When writing something important, check the text for syntactic and structural ambiguity ie make sure there is no potential for a sentence to yield multiple interpretations due to its ambiguous syntax.

The Language of Grammar Grammar lives in every tongue, In songs unsung, in stories spun. It’s woven deep, a hidden thread, In words we speak, in thoughts we spread. Through phrases shaped, and syntax spun, It guides the meaning, one by one. With every word and line arranged, A world of sense is then exchanged. Just listen close, let voices blend, To where context and structure send. Explore the ways words intertwine, Where learning forms and meanings shine. 📖📖📖 Photo by Thirdman: https://lnkd.in/gZpfq2Rk

Systematic phonics forms the bedrock of learning to read and spell. Students require a solid foundation of how the 44 phonemes (speech sounds) of the English language map to the 200 or more graphemes (a letter or group of letters) that represent them. Snappy Sounds provides this foundation. Introducing Kristin Anthian, lead author of Snappy Sounds. #Phonics #ReadingSkills #LiteracyEducation #Education #LanguageLearning #EnglishLanguage #SnappySounds #StructuredLiteracy

You need grammar for writing, for speaking - not so much. “In English writing and speaking are unrelated.” Sounds like: /i-ninglish ridin_gan speakin_ga_runreladed/ 1. Letters don’t strongly correlate with sounds 2. Regardless of spelling or word breaks, ALL WORDS INSIDE OF SENTENCES BEGIN WITH CONSONANT SOUNDS. 3. Accurate WORD STRESS on important words carries the day independently of grammar. YOU, KIND, SMART, imPORtant Got it. Not an #ESL teacher in a million knows how English works. Our training is abysmal.

You keep telling us about correct grammar and sentence structure. And native speakers don’t care, as you can see in the picture below. •In this scene, the sentence 'You is kind, you is smart, you is important' is not grammatically correct. The correct sentence should be: 'You are kind, you are smart, you are important.' •However, in the movie 'The Help', the character who says this (Aibileen) speaks in an informal dialect that reflects her social and cultural background, which is a Southern U.S. dialect that was common among certain communities at the time of the film. In the screenplay, the grammatical errors are intentional to show the character's nature and status, and to add authenticity and distinctiveness to the dialogue. •This is a common technique in films and stories, where different dialects or ways of speaking are used to reveal details about a character, such as their education level or social circumstances. For example, the way you speak to a university professor is different from how you would speak to someone who didn't go to school and has a basic education.
