Two days ago, on World AIDS Day, we honored the importance of raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging early detection of HIV. But this mission doesn't stop with just one day—every day is an opportunity to prioritize health and support a world free from HIV. Early testing saves lives. If you haven’t already, take the step to get tested and encourage others to do the same. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue making a difference! 🔗 Learn More & Get Tested https://lnkd.in/dMtCAyQM #WorldAIDSDay #HIVAwareness #GetTested #HealthMatters

On July 11th, SAGE’s Terri Wilder spoke at the “Sex after 50: What Older Adults Need to Know about HIV” webinar hosted by the PAN Foundation and CVS Specialty. Advocates, let’s call for the CDC to remove the upper age limit of HIV testing guidelines, push Congress to #SaveHIVFunding, and spread awareness about upcoming changes to PrEP services covered under Medicare. Many older people don’t think that they’re vulnerable to HIV, and many providers aren’t telling them otherwise. HIV testing should be a routine part of healthcare for all adults — regardless of age. People over 64 are being diagnosed, with advanced disease, and some have died. This doesn’t have to happen. We can create change together. In preparation for #ZeroHIVStigmaDay, let's talk about HIV stigma. #HIVstigma refers to irrational or negative attitudes, behaviors, and judgments toward people living with or at risk of HIV. It can negatively affect the health and well-being of people living with HIV by discouraging some individuals from learning their HIV status, accessing treatment, or staying in care. HIV stigma drives acts of discrimination in sectors of society, including health care, education, the workplace, the justice system, families, and communities.
