I trained to become a performer, but very earlier on understood that the fire that drove me revolved around setting a stage for others rather than being on it myself. This led me to organising events around the world to enable performers to have a stage with a supportive audience. This then drove me to founding CocoRio, enabling hundreds of creative professionals and performers to pursue their creative careers while earning on the side through meaningful work. And this holds true again today. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being jointly in the driving seat of a successful startup, I am now turning to setting that stage for others. As of Q2, I will be transitioning from the day to day running of CocoRio, leaving the magnificent Corinna Bordoli as sole CEO and stepping up to my new role as Chair of the Board. It’s not until I made this decision that I realised just how intertwined my identity was with this business. It’s bitter sweet, and I’ll miss parts of the day to day greatly - others, not so much :D What I’ll miss most is working with Corinna, and my team on the daily, but luckily I’ll never be very far away. Here’s why this move will be great for me and for CocoRio: 🔍 I’ll be able to have a bit of distance while also greatly understanding the day-to-day, so I will be a huge asset in driving the strategic direction of the company. 🧠 I will be able to obsess over CocoRio’s direction as opposed to being distracted by all the problem-solving that can be all-consuming. 🤝 I will be a shoulder to lean on for Corinna, uniquely positioned to understand any hurdle but also able to support while being removed; it will be easier to be objective. 👨👩👧👦 I will have more time to focus on my children. 💆♂️ I will have more time to focus on myself. 👥 I will empower others to step up. 📣 I will be the number one cheerleader, supporter, and guide that will help take CocoRio to the next stage. As for what my day to day will now look like…stay tuned for part 2.
Congrats and kudos. It takes a great entrepreneur to understand what it takes - for the company and oneself - to enter the next stage of growth. Your move is strategically important and the right one for both you and CocoRio
So proud of you and all the incredible things you’ve achieved. CocoRio will continue to flourish with Corinna - you both have done an incredible job 🩶
This step is good for growth. Goodluck.
