Prasun Kumar Prasun totally agree however here is also my 2 bit. The function is not just what it used to be but much more now. A great blend of conventional, traditional skill sets blended with new ones giving it more muscle & teeth and enabling it to always play on the “front foot” However have seen with a certain breed of marketeers, practitioners etc that they tend to underplay traditional skill sets of the function and their importance in bringing a more holistic approach on the table. Redefined marketing and changing org structures should definitely not look at this as either or and one being more important than the other but as a more holistic new age business enabling function backed by traditional skill sets & new ones as well
