Here’s why I’m bullish about the venture studio model And why more entrepreneurs, operators, and investors should do the same P.S. I’ve made a series of tools, databases, and guides for studio owner Go to my profile (Matthew Burris) and check my featured section for access
Love this. Is their a PE / VC fund that invests across / along with many Venture Studios that individuals can participate in? If not, what’s the closest to it?
Absolutely agree with your perspective! The venture studio model is a game-changer, offering a unique blend of resources, expertise, and agility that traditional models often lack. 🚀 As someone deeply involved in the startup ecosystem in Silicon Valley, I’ve seen firsthand how this approach can accelerate innovation and bring groundbreaking ideas to market faster. 💡 I’m curious about the tools, databases, and guides you’ve created—sounds like a treasure trove for studio owners and aspiring entrepreneurs! 👏 How do you see these resources helping to scale the venture studio model even further? Would love to hear more about your experiences and insights! 🔥
60% IRR seems utopian, what a powerful stat, considering venture funds sit at 21%.

Also bullish on Venture Studios over here at Fundingstack.com -- building out some feature sets, specifically for Studios that active help their startups raise capital, so they can raise faster and further de-risk the co's. Great summary, BTW!

Adding environmental impact into the equation, as exemplified by the efforts of Carbon13 and Wavemaker Impact makes the story even more compelling. Venture builders that deliver more robust entrepreneurial ecosystems, superior returns and sustainability are not only driving financial success but also contributing to a better future for our planet.
Excellent data and presentation Matthew! We are having a blast with our Eagle Venture Lab venture studio in Fort Worth, Texas and it's working so well that the team in our Singapore office (Carl Thong, Aswin Sutjahyo, and Tim O.) just launched a new venture studio there. In my experience of nearly 30 years of founding and investing in software firms, the venture studio model is incredibly efficient and fast compared to a typical startup launch process. While many venture studios are fairly broad in terms of business models and markets, we are tightly focused at Eagle Venture Lab on B2B SaaS and only a few markets - such as fintech - where we have very deep and strong existing relationships which makes ideation, validation, and early revenue traction much faster, better, and cheaper.
The problem with the Venture Studio model is that they are all chasing the latest Tech ideas. Nobody is interested in what is actually important such as Agri in Africa. Interested in on the ground food security, infrastructure, job creation. The Venture Sudio thesis for selection are completely skewed to Tech only. If you disagree then give me the names of 2% (only 17 names) of Venture Studios who focus on Agri in Southern Africa and job creation and food security.

4moIf you define a venture studio as a parent org that formulates ideas and then hires-in founders (as opposed to an incubator, where the founders join with the idea) then most of the examples don't fit. I'm also curious about your source on the IRR/exit/timeline stats, and if it relies on these examples?
