Nvidia: The old gaming PC chipmaker is not just a gaming goon now: The company's specialized chips are key components that help power different forms of artificial intelligence, including the latest generative AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. The world's most valuable chipmaker saw its market value expand by an unprecedented $296.52 billion to about $1.52 trillion, surpassing its previous high of $248.23 billion in gains seen in May 2023. Last month, Nvidia's stock climbed to new heights following the announcement of new desktop graphics processors and advancements in AI-related components and software. Nvidia eclipsed Google-parent Alphabet as the third most valuable U.S. company on Wednesday, just after overtaking Amazon and as investors looked to the dominant AI chipmaker's upcoming quarterly report. The Santa Clara, California company's stock rose 2.46%, putting its value at $1.825 trillion, while Alphabet's stock climbed 0.55%, leaving it with a value of $1.821 trillion. Nvidia controls about 80% of the high-end AI chip market, a position that has boosted its stock price 47% this year after it more than tripled in 2023. Customers face shortages of Nvidia's top-of-the-line components while AI developers face months-long waiting lists to use its processors through cloud-computing providers. Nvidia carved out an early lead in the hardware and software needed to tailor its technology to AI applications, partly because Huang began to nudge the company into what was then seen as a still half-baked technology more than a decade ago. It also makes chips for gaming and cars.

He beautifully connected the dots between technology and knowledge, drawing parallels between NVIDIA and Vidya the embodiment of knowledge, symbolized by the goddess Saraswati. He emphasized that just as Vidya empowers growth and wisdom, NVIDIA is the driving force behind the AI revolution, powering the innovations that will define our future. The Company plans to offer 100 GB of free cloud storage to its nearly half a billion users, positioning Jio as the gateway to India's AI-driven future. Ambani also hinted at ambitions to double revenue and EBITDA in the next few years, further propelling Reliance's dominance in India’s tech scene. In short, Ambani is ready to make AI a core part of India’s growth story—just as NVIDIA is doing globally. This March, an eager crowd of 12,000 people filled a San Jose, California stadium. "I hope you realize this is not a concert," joked Jensen Huang, chief executive of chip-making company Nvidia in nearby Santa Clara. For the next half an hour, Huang prepped the crowd to hear the latest news about graphics processing units (GPUs), his company's signature computer chip, which has been vital to artificial intelligence (AI) advances over the past decade. Huang held up the company's 2022 model, the Hopper ‘super chip.’ "Hopper changed the world," he said. Then, after a dramatic pause, he revealed another shiny black rectangle about the size of a Post-it note: "This is Blackwell." The crowd cheered. Back in 2022, Hopper beat the competition in every category — from image classification to speech recognition — on MLPerf, a battery of tests sometimes referred to as the Olympics of AI. As soon as it hit the market, Hopper became the go-to chip for companies looking to supercharge their AI. Now Nvidia promises that Blackwell will be, for certain problems, several times faster than its predecessor, a significant leap in performance. "I think Blackwell is going to take us to this next level of performance through a combination of more horsepower and also how the chips are communicating with each other," says Dave Salvator, director of product marketing in Nvidia's Accelerated Computing Group, underscoring the potential of this new chip. While hopes and concerns swirl around the impact of AI, the market for AI chips continues to grow. Nvidia, a company that currently supplies more than 80% of them, is a clear leader in the industry. In 2023, it sold 550,000 Hopper chips, each costing at least US$30,000 and going to data centers, a testament to their power and performance. This year, the company's market value skyrocketed to more than $2 trillion, solidifying its position as the third-highest-valued company in the world, ahead of giants such as Amazon and Alphabet, the parent company of Google. Renowned for its cutting-edge graphics processing units (GPUs), NVIDIA's dominance in GPU semiconductor chips, boasting around 80% market share, is a testament to over 25 years of relentless innovation. Notably, NVIDIA's pivotal role in AI hardware and software, exemplified by its collaboration with OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot powered by 10,000 NVIDIA GPUs, has propelled the company to new heights. The company's recent financial performance reflects its unwavering momentum, with fourth-quarter revenue reaching $22.1 billion, marking a remarkable 265% increase from the previous year. Looking ahead, NVIDIA remains bullish about its future prospects, anticipating a revenue of $24 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. However, challenges loom on the horizon, including supply chain constraints and geopolitical tensions impacting AI demand. Despite these uncertainties, NVIDIA's track record of innovation and resilience positions it strongly to navigate challenges and continue driving transformative advancements in AI and technology. I am surprised to see the tremendous growth in the company but this is an era of technology and it is going to change the way world operates.

"The Way It's Meant to be Played" vs "Invent" Nvidia reigns supreme in the discreet GPU market, boasting a staggering 1792% share price increase over five years, nearly 19-fold increase in value. (Nvidia’s tagline: "The Way It's Meant to be Played") In contrast, Danaher Corporation saw a much more modest growth of 91% during the same period. Danaher Corporation, a global conglomerate based in Washington, D.C., specializes in three sectors: life sciences, biotechnology, and clinical diagnostics. Early adoption of Kaizen (Japanese for 'improvement') in daily operations sets it apart as an early innovator. Notably, it is the only S&P 500 company with a succinct, one-word tagline. ((Danaher Corp’s tagline: "Invent") It’s instructive to analyse both company’s taglines using AIDA framework: Attention Both companies capture the attention of their target audience, albeit in distinct ways. Danaher's laconic tagline, "Invent," sparks curiosity about their innovations, suggesting Danaher's pivotal role as a driving force of invention. Meanwhile, Nvidia's tagline guarantees the ultimate gaming experience." Interest Curiosity is synonymous with interest. Thus, Danaher effectively achieves its goal with its tagline 'Invent. Yet, the addition of an intriguing phrase could enhance audience interest, although at the expense of brevity. In contrast, Nvidia's tagline omits any mention of its products or their applications, resulting in a lack of personal interest on my part. Desire Nvidia emerges as the clear winner: its tagline evokes a desire for the perfect gaming experience that Nvidia purportedly provides. In contrast, Danaher's tagline, on its own, does not directly instill a sense of desire. Action, (CTA call-to-action) The brevity of "Invent" offers an alternative interpretation: at face value, it prompts the audience to innovate (= to be creative and bring new ideas to life: Invent!). In contrast, I struggle to identify any clear call to action in Nvidia's tagline. The well-crafted Danaher Corp’s tagline has proven to be surprisingly rich in meaning. It's worth noting that in its early days, Nvidia experimented with various taglines. Reportedly, Nvidia used the tagline "green with envy" to promote some of its GPU lineup, and even employed the phrase "Crank that S#!T up!"(meaning “turn up the volume“)—introducing profanity to connect with gamers. Maybe Nvidia could consider a shorter and punchier tagline? “The Cutting Edge” (or just “The Edge”); “Unleash Frame Reality” (or just “Frame Reality” as the word “unleash” seems to be over-used); or a play on words “Power Your Vision”... @{https://lnkd.in/eSSeQrtm

Here are a few things I'm excited about: 💡 AI factories and the future of data centres: - NVIDIA are creating what they call "AI factories," which are advanced data centres designed specifically to process, refine, and convert large amounts of data into valuable AI models. - These AI factories differ from typical data centres in that they're optimised for automation and specialised skills, rather than IT workloads. - Looking ahead, many big companies across different industries—like retail, logistics, and automotive—will have their own AI factories. These factories will be focused on developing AI tailored to their specific products and needs. 💡 Humanoid robotics are coming: - Robots have emerged as a critical new frontier for the AI industry. If AI can create text and images, it can likely create movement too. - The idea is that humanoid robots could revolutionise major industries that haven't yet experienced AI's impact. It can perform dangerous jobs that are unsuitable for people and alleviate labour shortages. 💡 AI with long-term memory: - State-space models are gaining attention AI's future development. They’re able to learn extended patterns and sequences without significantly increasing computational demands. - This could enable us to engage in prolonged discussions with AI. Imagine being able to switch topics during a conversation, then return to a previous subject seamlessly. These models are able to retain context, allowing for more natural and sustained interactions.
