What a great conference #ITSM24. Superb to see old friends and meet new and exciting people who are passionate about the role of sustainable management in the technology industry.
First - a shout out to from the guys at #KTSL who got me to my session on time when there were no taxis available to take me from my hotel to the venue. Second, to #HenryStrouts (good to chat Henry), who has motivated me from the outset when I became an #ITSM lecturer way back in 2008, especially about how we can share knowledge differently. His passion for creating dynamic learning environments has always been an inspiration for me. Third, thanks to the technical team at the stadium - they often get missed off, but their efforts and professionalism made it possible.
Thanks to all those who attended my session, and especially for all your kind words afterwards - it is much appreciated. As a lecturer my job is to try to nudge thinking in new directions. I genuinely believe we have to create new ways to share IT best practice, especially to younger audiences. It has to work for them.
It was good to see all the #ITSM education advocates on the front row. #StuartRance #JamesFinnister #DanielBeston #KarenBrusch and the one person who has stood by my side since the beginning #BarryCorless
Also, thanks to #MichelleMajorGoldsmith for joining us, and contributing with her usual style and panache. What a great team we are!
My colleague #DavidBowers at #OpenUniversity needs a special mention. His creative technical genius and logical thinking brought the simulation exercise into the #ServiceManagement module on the computing degree.
For those who came to the session, and are new to what we are trying to achieve in education, a special thanks. You could have gone to any of the other interesting sessions, but chose mine - what can I say.
#BirminghamUniversity IT colleagues and (now) friends - this is especially for you. It was good to chat again about IT in universities.
We have some serious work to do though. We have to have earnest and informed discussions about how we can blend #ITSM content into mainstream education. #CristanMassey asked why it is taking so long. We all need answers for that.
I will muse on creating a simulation, perhaps with with that very thought in mind 😉
