Great article PJ. It will take a big team effort from all to drive forward with change. We need to embrace change and adapt to our changing environment and people
As folks "try" to move to value based care the corporate robbers are moving faster to extract profits from what is supposed to be a care system, but has become a system of transactions, in which instead of transactions supporting success for care, care is now the excuse for billing the transactions. This is progressing along, and has for 45 years. Stopping it requires reinventing healthcare altogether: healthcare access should be a RIGHT, with everyone covered for the vast majority of care, and every community with adequate primary care, regardless of location. National consensus will require a grassroots movement of care providers and patients. It's past time.

"Just 43% of U.S. adults reported a regular doctor or place of care relationship lasting at least five years. The highest-performing countries in that category, by contrast, were the Netherlands (76%) and Germany (68%)."

Clearly Bismarck Healthcare used in Germany, Switzerland, Japan and other democratic nations is the answer enabling access for all citizens to quality affordable private insured and private #ffs manufactured medical care with more private insurers and private hospitals per capita than in America and better clinical outcomes and costs than in the USA. How’s this achieved, simply by making health insurers profit-neutralized utilities instead of luxuries. Read about Bismarck Healthcare Here; https://lnkd.in/ecUwsHWP

There’s simply no evidence that 60 years spent building vertically and horizontally integrated, segregating, rationing and inequitably subsidized mega-profitable health insurance conglomerates has improved most Americans medical care access, outcomes or costs.

Global budgets as a replacement for fee-for-service, paired with models to improve population health and change hospital incentives is a promising alternative to more affordable and sustainable healthcare.
A new brief published by the Commonwealth Fund highlights the current state of Primary Care in the United States and nine other countries. Findings show that the US healthcare system spends less on primary care compared to other developed countries, and it shows.
Here's why this matters:
🔸Workforce shortages and burnout are making it harder for patients to find a regular doctor.
🔸Limited access can lead to delayed preventive care and worsen chronic conditions.
🔸Having a usual source of care is crucial for overall health and well-being.

A very useful addition to the thinking on evaluation of impact of virtual wards by Melissa Co at The Health Foundation which concludes -
“The question of whether virtual wards ‘work’ 'is complex but also part of a bigger picture. An ageing population in England with higher rates of multiple chronic diseases and the shift towards net zero care in the face of climate change mean the NHS needs to radically shift towards more proactive, community-based care.
Virtual wards are likely to be a part of this future. Instead of simply asking whether virtual wards work, we may need to ask what needs to happen to ensure they do.”
Thanks Paul Chappell for sharing.
