While certificates can certainly open doors, it’s often your skills and the value you bring that truly make a difference. If you were hiring a web developer, would you prefer someone with a degree in computer science but no real-world experience, or someone who has built multiple websites and has a portfolio showcasing their work? Most people would choose the person with proven skills. This is because practical skills and the ability to deliver results are often more important than a certificate. Adding value means making a real impact. It's about using your skills to solve problems, improve processes, and contribute to your team's success. While certificates can help you get your foot in the door, it’s your skills and the value you bring that will help you succeed and advance in your career. Employers are looking for people who can solve problems, innovate, and make a real impact. So, focus on developing your skills and finding ways to add value in everything you do. In the end, these qualities will speak louder than any certificate. #I remain yours Lady Mother Dan-Egwu (LSM) I coach and counsel young professionals and I help them to rediscover their self worth by regaining their Confidence, whilst also assisting them to reshape their career path.

KSM, Nice one Ma. Always speaking to encourage the young professionals. Thank you Ma
Thank you ma'am, for your words of encouragement.
Truthfully speaking...
I celebrate you and I am very proud of you ma.
Valid point!
Thank you for sharing. I have often advocated that we should do away with paper certificate. Unfortunately, many HRs are engrossed with paper certificate. Some even prefer certificate from abroad to local certificate, while some still discriminate between federal and state university. Our HRs need to review their hiring processes.
In the part of the world I have, certificates cannot even get the feet on the door; skill/value sets will always do.
Well said Ma. Certifications put you in the front row of the audition, but this does not mean you will make the cut.
