Which one do you identify in your office?

I bloody love Jimmy Rees - and some of his Covid era state by state videos were absolutely gold political satire. Operating WorkLife - my network of Regional Coworking spaces i get to encounter a lot of ‘personal habits in the workspace’- and because we choose to just have manners, rather than lots of rules governing behaviour at our spaces- it’s my job to have direct, discreet grown up conversations with people whose personal hygiene or unconscious behaviour is irritating other people. It’s pretty rarely required. The funny thing that struck me about Jimmy’s clip - is that I barely recognise any of these behaviours from a Coworking Space. And I reckon it’s because working in an office with office politics IS WHAT makes people’s behaviour irritating. Working in an office WITHOUT office politics- aka your friendly local Coworking Space- I think leaves you much less irritated by humanity. Or, I’m just super lucky with a few hundred people that call Worklife their office away from home- they seem to be the self aware and good natured types- and are remarkably free of the loud music/pen clicking/ throat clearing/ nose picking/ gossiping that Jimmy has observed pervading ‘THE Office’. My conclusion is that when you get to choose where and who you work with- you’ll find yourself a lot less irritated by the humanity of other people.
