WaysConf's call for speakers this year brought in an amazing 305 proposals, smashing last year’s record of 218 🎉. Interestingly, 43% of these came just in the last two days before the deadline 🏃♂️💨. At the start, only 3% of our applicants were women (stats after 1,5 weeks of c4s). To change this, we launched two campaigns, reaching out with personal invitations and messages. It worked wonders! By the end, 45% of our proposals were from women 🙌. Here’s how the topics broke down: Design: 111 proposals 🎨 Management: 124 proposals 📈 Research: 46 proposals 🔍 No-code: 39 proposals 💻 Even though some proposals fit into more than one category, it’s clear our community’s interests are shifting. No-code, once a tiny niche with just a handful of proposals, is now growing fast! From the other end, we've observed a surprising shift in research topics. Three to four years ago, research stood as the majority of all proposals. However, this year, I'm quite surprised that only 46 of all talks were about research. It's a significant change from the past, and it shows how our interests and focuses are evolving 🤔. Another highlight is that nearly a third of the proposals came from outside Poland 🌍. This marks a huge leap from the early days when we had just 10-15 international participants. Now, nearly 100 people from around the world want to speak at Waysconf, and our audience is expanding just as quickly. Thanks to everyone who applied, from every corner of the globe. Your enthusiasm is turning Waysconf into an international hub for innovative ideas. More updates coming soon! 🚀

Fighting for fair competition: our plan for CSG Tech Solutions 𝟭. 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹, 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 At CSG Tech Solutions, we understand that even well-intentioned leadership can struggle with bureaucratic challenges. These hurdles often prevent innovative solutions from getting the attention they deserve. 𝟮. 𝗡𝗼 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺, 𝗡𝗼 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘀, 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Our fight isn’t about asking for special consideration based on race or quotas. We believe in fair competition. All we want is a chance to compete on an equal footing without favoritism. Merit and proven results should be the deciding factors, not connections or quotas. 𝟯. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗜𝘀 𝗞𝗲𝘆 The real challenge for small businesses often lies in gaining access to the rooms where decisions are made. Without a seat at the table, how can we present our solutions and innovations? We need to ensure that all voices, especially those from smaller companies, are heard in these critical spaces. 𝟰. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 Recently, our CPAS software, a proven solution that benefits both clients and taxpayers, was not even considered for funding by the Orange County Citizens Commission for Children. Despite its potential impact, we were excluded from the opportunity to compete. 𝟱. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 This setback has only strengthened our resolve. We remain committed to advocating for a system that allows fair competition. It’s about more than just one project; it’s about creating an environment where every business, regardless of size, has a fair chance. 𝟲. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 For the past few years, CSG Tech Solutions has been a vocal advocate for fair competition. We have highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in decision-making processes. Our goal is to create a system that benefits all small businesses, not just our own. 𝟳. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 Our ultimate aim is to change the system for the better. We want to address poor governance and ensure that future opportunities are awarded based on merit and potential impact, not favoritism or bureaucracy. At CSG Tech Solutions, we remain committed to this cause. Fair competition benefits everyone by fostering innovation, improving services, and ensuring that the best solutions rise to the top. Join us in our mission to ensure fair competition and good governance. Let’s work together to create a system that rewards merit and innovation. Rod Love, CEO of CSG Tech Solutions

What an incredible evening at the inaugural Tech Mixer! It was fantastic to see familiar faces, forge new connections, and learn from professionals across various industries. Who knew that holding a one-liter stein of "beer" (water, in our case) for over 3 minutes could be such a challenge? Our impromptu Oktoberfest celebration certainly added a unique flavor to the night! A huge thank you to the recruiters from a leading global FinTech company who shared invaluable insights about the current job market. Here are some key takeaways: 1. It's not what you know, but who you know. Internal referrals are golden! 2. AI is now a big player in preliminary screening. Tailor your resume with relevant keywords for each application. 3. Speed matters! Be among the first 100 applicants when possible. 4. Be transparent about salary expectations, and understand the nuances of posted ranges. 5. Flexibility in relocation can give you an edge, especially for roles in major metros. 6. Remember, recruiters are human too. Be patient and empathetic in your follow-ups. The overarching theme? Networking is key! Keep investing time in making new connections and nurturing existing ones. Stay tuned for details about my next event in Q1 2025! Special shoutouts: 👏 To SoAngela Hardt for the creative conversation-starting name tags. 🍺 To Kings Hardware staff for their flexibility and great service. Let's keep the momentum going! What was your favorite part of the evening?#TechNetworking #CareerInsights #CommunityBuilding

Did you attend #BirminghamTechWeek? Our team were out and about at the UK’s largest regional tech festival and conference last week, attending many of the fantastic events which were taking place at venues accross the West Midlands. Included in the teams programme of events for the week included 'Talent at Scale', an insightful look at how to successfully grow organisations in the current climate. Their key takeaways? ''𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦-𝘶𝘱 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘱𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴, 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯'𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘋𝘕𝘈 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦'', shared Principal Consultant, Adam Pettitt. Among the many other thought-provoking events and panel discussions was 'Women in Technology', which, thanks to many of the barrier-breaking personal stories shared on the day, served as a great reminder of the continued importance of driving the conversation around how we best attract and attract female talent in the tech industry. The value of mentorship shone through for Adam, ''𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 - 𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 “𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦”''. I respectfully declined 2 speaking gigs last week. Why? Because they were either unpaid. Or made zero sense. Option number one was a coach asking for me to be a part of her summit. To join I had to: → share my email list with her → record a free training → and post about the summit to my socials and list What was in it for me? Exposure and the opportunity to collaborate with 'like-minded women'. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again... No matter what industry you are in you deserve to be paid for your time. Option two was a live event. Not only was it unpaid, the travel was also not included. So, again, I asked “what’s in it for me”. To which the startup founder responded: “There will be some influential founders there, great for exposure” I responded by asking who these influential founders were, Only to be told that they could not share the attendee list. 🫣 Okay, I lied. Both of these make zero sense. You deserve to be fairly compensated for your work with MONEY. Exposure is not a currency. It cannot be traded and I most certainly cannot use it to pay for my morning coffee. To all new coaches and online service providers, do your research before agreeing to share your email list or promote anything on your platform. Your personal brand is literally all you’ve got Treat it with care.
