👸EWC x MWI 2024🏆 MLBB Women’s Invitational is part of Esports World Cup Foundation as a women tournament having 11 regions and 12 teams to compete and it’s a unique MLBB product we’ve been building for 3 years. Our core believes: 1. 🎮Women esports players has no physical difference, they can perform as best as man. Our professional league also has no gender barriers and our goal is clear - in one day, we hope to see a mix of team with man and women players competing at their highest level. 2. 👣The women product act as a stepping stone/incubator, the goal is to train good players and ignite women players seeing it as a potential career path. Imagine it serves the same purpose as development league but more cater for women players development showing they can carry the team instead of playing support role only. 3. 👀The gap has already been closing and we are putting two best performing Indonesia women teams - Team Vitality and Team Falcons into the development league - MDL ID starting next season. They will play against other development teams with full man roster. We will see how this will further change the landscape of MLBB esports in the professional scene. In country level, MLBB esports was an official medal event in SEA Games for women category in 2023 - The Indonesia women team brought home the gold medals and greeted by the president when they returned home. The action continues later this year with International Esports Federation and Global Esports Federation will also include MLBB Women in their upcoming championship. And there are more country level women tournaments coming up is yet to be announced. Are we doing this right? It’s still too early to make a conclusion but we believed this is the right way to go - with a commitment to women scene in esports. Evolution of the Olympic games?? I have to admit, I’ve enjoyed watching the Olympics over the past couple of weeks especially some of those sports I am not normally engaged with —congratulations to everyone involved! As I watched, I couldn’t help but think about my daughter's generation and how their engagement with sports might differ from the traditional events we’ve grown up with. Looking ahead, the integration of esports into the Olympic Games feels like a vital evolution. Digital play is becoming a central part of the next generation's culture, and esports offers an opportunity to bridge gaps—between able-bodied and disabled participants, across genders, and across cultures. The recent announcement that Saudi Arabia will launch the Esports Olympic Games in 2025 is a groundbreaking step toward merging the digital and physical realms. This is not just a new chapter for the Olympics but a chance to redefine inclusivity in global sports. It's crucial that we start integrating esports into educational curriculums and creating digital playgrounds where students can develop these skills. By fostering an environment where digital innovation and physical sportsmanship go hand in hand, we can shape a future that is inclusive and forward-thinking. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced a partnership with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Saudi Arabia to host the first Olympic Esports Games in 2025. This initiative follows the IOC Executive Board's recent establishment of the Olympic Esports Games, with a proposal set to be presented at the IOC Session before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The partnership between the IOC and the Saudi NOC will last 12 years, with the Olympic Esports Games held regularly during this period. IOC President Thomas Bach expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with the Saudi NOC, highlighting their expertise in esports and their commitment to Olympic values, gender equality, and youth engagement. Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sport, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing its potential to inspire new dreams for athletes worldwide. He affirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to hosting a special event that celebrates Olympic values and advances the esports industry. Supported by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia has become a global hub for professional esports, with over 23 million gamers. This partnership aligns with the country's Vision 2030, which has seen significant growth in sports participation and the hosting of major international events. Women's sports have also seen rapid growth in Saudi Arabia, with nearly half of the country's gamers being female. Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, an IOC Member and President of the Women’s Committee, highlighted the positive impact of sports on women and girls and anticipated increased female participation in the Olympic Esports Games. Following this announcement, the IOC will begin planning the event, including selecting a city and venue, determining the event schedule, and outlining the qualification process for players. The IOC will collaborate with International Federations and National Olympic Committees already involved in esports to ensure a successful inaugural event.
