Check out my latest column, where I discuss how anti-transit groups undermine support for public transit under the guise of fiscal responsibility and efficiency—and how we can combat it.
Mallon: The deceptive influence of anti-transit groups
The historic negative multiplier effects from anti-transit groups (policy which dictates planning) has painted the US into a high cost corner that can't be fixed. However costs can be reduced. Public rail transit, long-haul, regional, metro can reduce the cost to breakeven & contribute positive multiplier effects which is where the real value is. High-speed rail is one requirement that includes low-cost "Feeder" logistics for passengers & cargo.
A policy-capable and operationally efficient public service is any government’s best asset! Without political will and support from the top, this is never going to happen. 😞

We need accountability! Our government should answer to the people. An internal audit of every department, congressman, senator, and all staff is crucial. Let's uncover where our money is spent and identify any kickbacks. Transparency is key for a brighter future. #Accountability#Transparency#GovernmentAudit
Makes important point that as the Ginger Man won in transit rich counties this time it is less likely that anti public transport policies will prevail. Watch that space as this will be a critical issue in a country that has been making progress in new mass transit initiatives in the last decade.
Good policy isn't just about politics—it's about prosperity. At Business For Good, we focus on public policy because we know that equitable policies directly impact our businesses' bottom line. When our communities thrive, so do we.

What do we need to win a 2026 Bay Area transit funding measure?
We polled 600 likely Bay Area voters to learn just that.
Register for our March 6th webinar from 12-1pm PST to learn just exactly what changes voters want to see and how advocates, elected officials, and transit agencies should be thinking about messaging in support of the regional ballot measure. We’ll also cover what’s going on over the next six months that will influence our ability to win in 2026.
These results provide key insights on public attitudes around transportation and what priorities they want included in a regional measure.
