Servicing gadgets feels like a nightmare☄️. I wonder why most of the companies even like Google outsource repairs to vendors (f1 info solutions) who prioritize profits over quality. These vendors often follow a troubling pattern—misdiagnosing issues, claiming devices are out of warranty, or tampering with your device behind closed doors. I never expected Google to follow this trend❌. My recent Pixel service revealed a complete disconnect between Google and their service vendors. Which made me think Google just want to sell their product and sign off. This is the right way of selling Rubbish though. So far, Apple 💻 is promising. Handles services much better by prioritizing customer satisfaction. 💡Companies need to realize that long-term success relies on providing quality post-sale support. Apple and Google are like two giants, seemingly rivals. One builds the sleekest devices, the other dominates the search world. And yet, they rely on each other in a way that might surprise you. Every year, Google pays Apple a jaw-dropping $15 BILLION just to be the default search engine on your iPhones and iPads. But why would Google pay so much? It’s all about traffic. More than half of Google’s search traffic comes from Apple devices. This means when people search on Safari, it’s Google that shows up by default—leading to more clicks on ads, more ad revenue, and more data for Google. Build a better mousetrap. Become the dominant mousetrap on the market. Get targeted by government for giving consumers what they want and forced to pay the government for consumers rewarding you. Yeah, that’s basis of antitrust in today’s political environment.

In 2019, I switched to the Light Phone 2 to curb my smartphone dependency. It reduced my screen time but didn’t solve everything. Instead of spending time offline, I found myself using my laptop more. My 12-13 hours on a smartphone became 8-10 hours on a laptop. The phone is only part of the equation; your lifestyle is key. A smartphone is less distracting if you engage with the real world. Conversely, a dumbphone can be distracting if you let it. There’s no perfect device for everyone. 😤 This is not something I agree with…. Competition is the driver that breads innovation. Essentially the US govt is suing Apple because it believes its ecosystem and App Store is anticompetitive and doesn’t allow for alternate options. But… Apple’s main USP is its seamless hardware and software integration. Because it owns the services and software that powers its hardware it allows for a controlled and homogenous experience. Something notoriously hard for service based businesss to win at. So what? If the US govt wins, it would mean that Apple no longer controls the phone experience and that would mean it’s USP, the feature that the majority of Apple fans love, would no longer exist. My take - Companies should always win customers through great products and services. If product A is better then product B AND product B is marketed well there should be no reason customers wouldn’t shift from A to B. Win on value and benefits, not on a policy that means product A’s USP needs to be removed. If you need mom or dad (govt) to make your brother (iPhone alternative) give you what you want, then it’s clear your products and marketing is not up to scratch.
