Why a £3billion pound Sandwich shop gave me a Free Meal? Last Saturday, after volunteering to feed families and children in my community, I drove about 30 miles to another town, still wearing my volunteer shirt. As I walked into a sandwich shop 🥪🥪🥪, the person at the counter recognized me as part of the Gillingham S.T.R.E.E.T Angels, a group dedicated to feeding families and children in the community ensuring no child goes to bed hungry. When I went to pay, he insisted, "No, take it for free." He explained that Pret a Manger, the company he worked for, supports the homeless through food giveaways. Lesson Learned: Corporate Kindness: This experience showed me that even big companies like Pret a Manger are compassionate and actively support their communities. Building Loyalty: Acts of kindness, like providing free meals to volunteers, not only support those in need but also build loyalty and goodwill within the community. It's inspiring to see how businesses can make a positive impact beyond their products or services. What does your brand mean to you? How are you contributing to your community? Let's celebrate and encourage kindness and generosity in all forms. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world. Pano Christou Ceo Pret Manger...please give this youngman a 📞....he showed me true value of coporate kindness...at the Ashford branch. #CorporateKindness #CommunitySupport #Volunteerism #SocialImpact

Transforming Complexity into Simplicity with Slow Shopping At Slow Shopping, we act as a bridge between businesses and the community, turning fragmented/disaggregated support into a more coherent and accessible service. Our mission is simple: to take the diverse forms of support that already exist—whether from businesses, charities, or local initiatives—and create an organized, practical structure that’s easy for people to engage with. We also empower organizations to develop new services and solutions. Through our training, we offer a methodology to audit current services and create fresh, tailored solutions that meet the needs of their community. Slow Shopping allows businesses to offer personalized support, particularly for individuals with specific needs such as the elderly or those with disabilities. By "joining the dots" between various services, we create a smoother, more accessible shopping experience for all. Our goal: to transform complexity into simplicity, making shopping and community engagement more inclusive and empowering for everyone. #InclusiveBusiness #CommunitySupport #Accessibility #SlowShopping #CorporateResponsibility #dementia # carers #longevity #cityoflongevity #longevitysociety #slowshopping

Title: The Ripple Effect of Kindness 1. In a bustling city, amidst the chaos of life, a simple act of kindness unfolded. A stranger noticed an elderly woman struggling to carry her groceries. Without hesitation, he offered his help. #KindnessMatters 2. Grateful for his assistance, the older adult woman smiled warmly, her eyes shimmering with gratitude. That small gesture of kindness sparked a chain reaction touching many lives. #SpreadKindness 3. Inspired by the stranger's kindness, the elderly woman decided to pay it forward. She spent her afternoon volunteering at a local shelter, serving meals to those in need. #PayItForward 4. One of the shelter's recipients, a young man named X, was deeply moved by the elderly woman's compassion. He vowed to make a positive difference in the world, starting with his community. #Inspiration 5. X organized a neighborhood cleanup, rallying his friends and neighbors to beautify their streets. The sense of unity and purpose brought smiles to faces and strengthened bonds. #CommunityKindness 6. Witnessing the impact of X's initiative, a local business owner decided to support the cause. They donated supplies and offered their storefront as a gathering point for volunteers. #SupportLocal 7. As news of the cleanup spread, more people joined in, each one contributing to the collective effort. What began as a small act of kindness blossomed into a movement of goodwill and positivity. #TogetherWeCan 8. Reflecting on the day's events, X realized that kindness knows no bounds. It can bridge divides, ignite hope, and create lasting change. #KindnessIsContagious 9. And so, in the heart of the city, amidst the hustle and bustle, the ripple effect of kindness continued to spread, reminding everyone that even in the busiest of times, there's always room for kindness. #BeTheChange 10. Let's keep the chain of kindness going. You never know how far a simple act of kindness can reach. Together, we can make the world a brighter, more compassionate place. #SpreadLove #KindnessInAction #GreatPlaceToWork#HyTechPro#linkedinfamily#KindnessMatters

Volunteering at the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless’s Sort & Pack event was nothing short of epic! Seriously, seeing everyone—from kids to grandparents—come together to support one cause was just fantastic. I mean, who knew packing backpacks could be so motivational? Helping a community like LICH keeps me going; I could tell everyone else felt the same energy. Now, let’s talk about the heat. I haven’t sweat that much since…well, ever. It was like Mother Nature decided to throw in a free sauna session! But honestly, it was all worth it. The thought of someone out there smiling because of the backpack I packed? Priceless. I can’t wait to do it again at the next event—hopefully, it’ll be a bit cooler! Also, a big shoutout to our Jovia Financial Credit Union team members, who, internally throughout the organization, helped collect over 1,300 individual school supplies and to everyone who came out to help sort & pack those supplies. There’s a reason they say there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team’—it takes all of us together to make a significant impact, and we did a great job together. #CommunityEngagement #VolunteerExperience #NonprofitSupport #HomelessnessAwareness #Teamwork #CorporateSocialResponsibility #JoviaFinancial #LeadershipInAction #MakingADifference #SocialImpact #EmployeeVolunteering #GivingBack #CommunityOutreach

I've been volunteering at my local soup kitchen & food pantry and I'll tell you what: their team demonstrates #delegation and #empowerment in a way I had NEVER before witnessed in my career. Every day, 4 fulltime staff leaders direct 20-40 volunteers who range in age from teenage to elderly. Over half of the volunteers are either brand new or help out only once a month. The result? 👉 Staff leaders assign and move volunteers to tasks countless times per day, demonstrating zero hesitation around who is and isn't capable 🖐 Asking questions isn't only encouraged, it's mandatory to get things done – meaning volunteers comfortably ask for help all day without any judgement 👋 Volunteers who have done a task even ONE TIME before are asked to teach others how, inspiring confidence in volunteers' ability to learn, educate, and execute 👏 Trust inspires volunteers to quickly demonstrate leadership qualities, corralling idle hands when they need support chopping, carrying, or bagging Too often, we see risk-averse corporate tendencies slow down #productivity and #advancement. My local food pantry proves just how much can be accomplished when we reduce those barriers. 🙋♀️ Side note: if your mind is wandering to some version of "well, there's less to lose in a nonprofit" I encourage you to remember that whereas much of corporate risk is perception and usage, what this nonprofit has to lose is the ability to feed families that otherwise go hungry #fridayfeeling

For five years we have hosted some type of Christmas giveaway for the community. Year 3 we provided over 1k kids with gifts and their parents with household goods. I didn’t sleep well at night until I knew that every kid would receive a gift. After year 3 because of all of the problems we had with attendees I decided that we would go to a more meaningful giveaway that provided our families with an elegant setting where they could dress up, eat together and family sponsors could sit at the tables with families they sponsored and give gifts. The gala is strictly for families who have participated in any of our programs during the year. We don’t receive funding for this event we have to fundraise and seek sponsors. We are stepping it up this year with a different venue and an even better experience for our families. I still have some families who need a sponsor. If you or your business are looking to make a difference for someone this holiday season please sign up. Our outreach team will be matching families to sponsors all week and providing lists for sponsors to shop for. You still have time to be matched with a family. Each list has a need and a want for the children and we encourage the purchase of some household goods for the parents, though it’s not necessary. My favorite part is that all sponsors have the opportunity to join us at the gala and present gifts to the family they sponsored. Interested in being a sponsor leave me a message or complete the link in the comments. #intervention #prevention #arkansas

This Giving Tuesday, I'm in awe of what we've built together at Grassroots Grocery—and even more excited about where we're headed. What started in my classroom as a middle school teacher in the Bronx has grown into something extraordinary. Every Saturday, in an empty parking lot in the Bronx, something magical happens. Neighbors show up for neighbors. Families show up for families. Volunteers, old and new, work shoulder to shoulder — moving 15,000 pounds of fresh produce to 1,500 households in Harlem and the Bronx — all before lunch. It's not just about the food—it's about the connections, the joy, and the power of a community united by one simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors. The need is growing, and so must we. Only one in four of our food insecure neighbors can access the help that’s available to them. That's why we're launching our boldest plan yet: the Deliver Double Campaign: 🚛 Double the produce. 🚗 Double the drivers. 🤝 Double the community reach. And thanks to $125,000 in matching funds, every single dollar you give until the ball drops will go twice as far to fuel this movement. Check out this video to see the magic in action—and help us Deliver Double for New York City. To every volunteer, every donor, every neighbor who's been part of this journey: thank you. Whether you've joined a Produce Party with your family, group, or school, or participated in a corporate sandwich race, this is your story too.
