Kenya Association of Air Operators Rejects the Concession of JKIA to Adani Airport Holdings as Currently Conceived. The Board in its deliberations confirmed that it does not support the concession of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as currently conceived, noting further that the stakes are too high for a one-bidder process for such an important strategic asset, and that the credibility of the potential partner is also in question. It noted that the best approach in this complex eco-system would be for a competitive and transparent bidding process with all the steps envisaged in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Act correctly followed. The Board further opined that a clear vision of the end game for Kenya needed to be articulated, starting with adherence to the principles laid out in the National Aviation Policy and a well-developed JKIA masterplan which should form the business case for a concession process. https://lnkd.in/d4QPaRwy #airports #Kenya Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO)

The airport with the longest runway in the world is Ulyanovsk Vostochny Airport in Russia, which shares the record with Shigatse Peace Airport in China. Both airports have runways that are 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) long Some other notable airports with very long runways include: Hamad International Airport in Qatar has a runway that is 4,850 meters (15,912 feet) long Denver International Airport in the United States has a runway that is 4,877 meters (16,000 feet) long Kansai International Airport in Japan has a runway that is 4,000 meters (13,120 feet) long The length of an airport's runways is important for accommodating large aircraft, especially during takeoff when they need sufficient distance to become airborne. Longer runways allow airports to handle heavier aircraft with full passenger loads and fuel. #aviation #aviationlovers #airport #airpeace

Fly Khiva to start cargo flights from mid-April 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan’s start-up Fly Khiva will start cargo flights from mid-April, its vice president Alisher Nurmatov told CentralAsia+ Aero. The private airline plans to provide cargo services between Europe and China through Uzbekistan. Currently, the company has one Boeing 767-300F freighter, leased from Icelandair in January. Nurmatov also mentioned that negotiations are underway to acquire two more aircraft of the type, which are currently undergoing maintenance in Shannon, Ireland. The leasing terms for the first aircraft call for its maintenance being handled by the lessor. However, Fly Khiva has plans to establish its own base maintenance center in the future. "Most likely, this will not be in Tashkent," noted Nurmatov. Possibly, Navoi airport will serve as an alternative to Tashkent. Since the late 2000s, Navoi has been developed primarily as a cargo hub. Recently, the government has been attracting maintenance providers to the airport. This week, Uzbekistan Airports holding signed an agreement with the Italian provider EU Wings to establish a base maintenance center there. A representative from the Ukrainian provider Best MRO also mentioned similar plans regarding Navoi to CentralAsia+ Aero. Subscribe to @CentralAsiaPlusAero

Current challenges in finding aircraft in a resource-limited market have resulted in a strategic management shift at LIFT Airlines, with the co-founders Gidon Novick, Jonathan Ayache, and Justin Gordon pulling out of management to focus on the airline’s fleet renewal. They remain shareholders and on the board, but "their focus will shift to strategic initiatives, including aircraft acquisition and expanding LIFT's model across the African continent". In July, Ayache told ch-aviation that LIFT plans to rejuvenate its ageing fleet with younger, pre-owned A320-200s in the next 18 to 24 months and is already in "advanced" talks with partners about financing these aircraft. To get the background on the latest decision, read that story here: https://lnkd.in/dNV9kh4Y LIFT is the scheduled airline brand of ACMI specialist Global Aviation which now takes full management control. It operates an all-Airbus fleet of A320-200s, most of which are owned by the parent company. #africanairlinenews #airlines #aviationnews

Uzbekistan’s My Freighter signed an interline agreement with the world’s largest airline 🇺🇿 Uzbeki cargo airline My Freighter has signed an interline agreement with the world’s largest airline, American Airlines. This marks the first step towards creating a new "Silk Road" between the East and the West through Central Asia, My Freighter reported. The agreement took into effect from August 1 and allows My Freighter to send cargo via American Airlines flights from Europe to destinations in the U.S., including New York (JFK), Philadelphia (PHL), Dallas (DFW), Charlotte (CLT), and Houston (IAH), as well as to European cities such as Amsterdam (AMS), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Madrid (MAD), and Munich (MUC).
