Investor & Managing Director - DeVC & Z47 | Ex-Founder The Moms Co. (India’s largest D2C Exit) | Talk about Startup Investing and Entrepreneurship

Not sure if this is "LinkedIn material" but the message seems to resonate. I've had the privilege of building The Moms Co. | Good Glamm Group with Malika Datt Sadani and seeing many Founder-relationships closely over the last few years. A key recurring theme? Being married to a startup founder is not easy. Their life is full of extreme highs—like when the business is going great—and deep lows, when nothing seems to work. Founders often work 7 days a week, and their attention is almost always on the business. For a spouse, it can feel like competing with a third partner—the startup. The hardest part? It’s tough to understand what they’re going through if you’re not in it with them. The stress, the setbacks, and even the wins can feel distant if you’re not on the same journey. This can make relationships really hard. But there’s also a beautiful side. Watching someone you love work hard to create something amazing can be inspiring. Seeing them fully alive and doing what they love—building something to make the world better—can bring so much pride. This life isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. But if you choose it, you need to be all in. Understand what it takes, support them through the highs and lows, and commit to the journey together. Yes, it’s challenging, but the rewards of building something meaningful together can make it all worth it. Married to a founder or know someone who is? I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences. What's the biggest lesson you've learnt along the ride? #entrepreneurship #d2cindia #founderlife

This is absolutely "LinkedIn material" because it captures a raw and honest perspective that resonates deeply with founders, their partners, and even those watching from the sidelines. Relationships and entrepreneurship often intersect in ways that aren’t openly discussed, and your post sheds light on both the struggles and the beauty of this journey. The metaphor of a startup as a "third partner" is spot-on—it’s a constant presence in the relationship. But your focus on shared commitment and pride in building something meaningful together is what makes this message inspiring. A key takeaway for me? The importance of mutual understanding and open communication to navigate the highs and lows. For those of us married to founders—or even co-founders—this perspective is a reminder to celebrate the wins and stay anchored through the challenges. Curious—what’s one piece of advice you’d give to couples navigating this dynamic? Would love to hear more about your perspective!

So true, the biggest learning has been to stay calm as much as you can, because they know that if something is going wrong they have to figure it out and you know that they can. So rather than constantly asking that what’s wrong what is bothering you, try to stay calm and just be there and support them.

Having been on entrepreneurship journey with my life partner once Kvantum by Yum!, I truly support what Mohit Sadaani has shared here. It is a lot to take in and support as a startup founder spouse, esp, if you have not been through the journey yourself.

Well Mohit I did marry a startup founder and I can say it is not ‘Easy’ for both actually..Our marriage & startup journey happened at the same time, and let’s just say the honeymoon was more about Lalit Kalani Investor Pitches than beaches and cocktails lol!! But eventually few months down the line, I joined him in the business too and now we both work ‘7 Days A Week’ haha {#FounderLife}.. As you rightly said understanding is the key especially if you building something together and it definitely helps if you both have a shared vision for Work and Life :)

Can totally relate to this Mohit Sadaani ! We started JoySpoon together & the instigation to start a premium mouthfreshner & mukhwas brand was in fact our wedding 😊. I am sure it's not easy but I also feel for me personally it has made life a lot easier as we have been seeing other for 12 years. I think for us that journey of seeing through the whole adulting helps us to stay strong ! There is surely a miss on a lot of quality time but I think as you said the Sheer JOY of bringing a change keeps us going.Since now the families are smaller than ever , if u can find a partner with mutual understanding, there is no other blessing u need as they can be the best cofounders as in my case Vaishali Mehta is one 🥰
