EDU-GAMING IS FUN DEPT. The traditional way to write automated players ("computer") is to provide them with settings like accuracy, speed and so on so the game play feels somewhat realistic. It's quite fun to write the player's decision leaving a part of it to chance even if the accuracy settings are high. Basically what you are doing is allowing the automated player, the "computer" or bot, to be "intelligent" enough in a random way based on their accuracy settings stored as a percentage. For even more complex, read realistic, gameplay, you could also vary the percentage of accuracy from turn to turn, or round to round and finally game to game. However what I am more and more interested now is to use one of the AI APIs to "learn" the game rules by itself and play. This should be a reasonably easy task with the open APIs available but I fear the AI agents will quickly become as good as the best players, a process that includes strategizing like "humans". Of course, big game companies have been introducing bots in their games powered with LLMs who speak to you like real people during the gameplay itself and it's so eerie. But even in relatively easier straightforward games like the kind I write, I am increasingly hugely EXCITED to deploy AI bots not only strategizing how to defeat but to co-operate with human players particularly since the objective of my games are educational. #gamification #ai #llm #games #education

1/ A team of researchers from Stanford University, University of Washington, Cornell University, Activision Blizzard and Nvidia has developed MLMOVE, a bot that mimics the movements of professional CS:GO players using imitation learning based on a dataset of 123 hours of professional gameplay. 2/ For the training, the CSKNOW dataset was created, which contains game state information from over 17,000 rounds of professional CS:GO matches. A transformer-based movement model predicts movement commands based on this and is combined with a rule-based aiming and shooting system to create the MLMOVE bot. 3/ In quantitative analyses, MLMOVE showed more human-like behavior than previous bots in terms of map placement, tactics and game results. In the future, the technology could lead to challenging AI opponents in competitive games and in training for e-athletes. 👇 Read more #AIingames

From Exploration to Innovation: My Journey with the Create 'n' Play AI Gaming Bot for Discord, Starting as an enthusiastic Discord user recently, I saw the gap in enhancing its game activity feature with generative AI. This led to the creation of the "Create 'n' Play" gaming bot, which handles over 100 text-based games, facilitates team formations, and fosters engaging social interactions. Leveraging Cohere Command R model and Qdrant cloud vector DB, I ensured a dynamic and efficient gameplay experience. Overcoming challenges from Discord documentation to AI integration in Python with LangChain, I pushed the boundaries of text-based gaming. Key features of Create 'n' Play: 🎲 Over 100 engaging text-based games 🤝 Easy team formations and interactions 💬 Enhanced social engagement with AI This project showcases AI's potential in gaming and marks significant personal growth. I'm excited to share Create 'n' Play with the world and look forward to its impact. DeepMind (Google's innovation lab) officially released 'Genie' this week, an AI system that crafts interactive video games based solely on textual or visual prompts. The model observed more than 200,000 hours of gameplay from various 2D platformers, enabling it to independently grasp the nuances of game dynamics. Genie allows players to navigate and manipulate game environments and characters moment-to-moment, despite lacking explicit training in game actions. Notably, the system can identify the protagonist within any game scenario, allowing players to assume direct control over the central character within these AI-generated realms. It's currently designated for research purposes, so Genie operates at a modest one frame per second (FPS). Buttt you can only imagine what this thing can do once fully realized. With Google’s Genie, creating a personalized gaming universe could become as straightforward as describing one...
