Recently, JOLT conducted research with 419 of our regular users. More than half of those surveyed (57%) said they aligned their charging with local spending activity, with 70% of customers spending up to $50 at local businesses during a single charging session. The research data revealed that EV drivers specifically visit locations where there are JOLT EV street side chargers, and wouldn’t have visited if the JOLT charger was not there. The majority used the 30-minute charging session to shop, grab a takeaway coffee or enjoy a meal in a local café or restaurant. In addition, 68% noted the importance of having access to an EV charger near local businesses. "Local businesses see increases to traffic and spending by having an EV charger in the area" is a sentence that helps the conversation about electrification. Businesses have incentives on chargers and solar projects that help in the long run. Even if you never want one yourself the number of owners of electric vehicles is increasing yearly. Being able to charge your vehicle and get a quick snack or buy a trinket while you kill time is a nice convenience. Great looking charging bays, not all fully #PAS1899 compliant, but all with a minimum space of 1200mm to the sides of the bays (certainly at Yate, I haven't checked the others, but Be.EV are usually good at this). This is great for everybody. -People who don't want their expensive cars dinged. -People with children in car seats who need to open doors fully -People who are wheelchair users or who have mobility impairments With an ageing population and many disabled people returning EVs to Motability Operations Ltd due to the discriminatory infrastructure, this is just future proofing the charging experience for all. A new study from MIT (https://lnkd.in/gAPbaGyB) reveals that EV charging stations don’t just power cars, they power local economies. In California, opening a charging station boosted annual spend at nearby businesses by an average of $1,500 in 2019, and $400 per business from ’21 to ’23. The increase was more pronounced for businesses in under resourced areas. Furthermore, the charger additions sparked the growth of new shops and services around “EV hot spot” areas.
