K2, Nationellt kunskapscentrum för kollektivtrafik is organizing workshop on future #publictransport research. After 10y research and 300M SEK, K2 experienced the worst crisis (public transport patronage crumbled in the covid19 pandemic). I am big supporter of the goal to double the number of public transport passengers in #Sweden that K2 advocated in the first years of their existence. #Lund

Spotlight on #Ljubljana 🔦 June is coming to an end, and you know what that means: a new #POLIS 'Member in the Spotlight'! ✨ 📅 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩, our eyes are on the Slovenian capital, where low-emission bus fleets are roaming the streets and once-busy traffic routes have been transformed into 'urban living rooms.' 🏆 Nominated the European Green Capital of 2016, the City of Ljubljana has not stopped striving for #SustainableMobility ever since. In addition to hosting the 2022 Velo-city Conference, where it showed Europe and the rest of the world what it means to be 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 bike-friendly, it has continued to upgrade its #TransportInfrastructure, making #InnovativeMobility a 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 of its urban agenda. Halfway through 2024, POLIS seized the opportunity to speak with Vita Kontić Bezjak, Public Relations and Mobility Advisor, Commercial Activities and Traffic Department, City of Ljubljana, about her city's 'Vision for 2025' 🔭🌱 🎙️ She told us about the progress already achieved, the #mobility roadblocks that Ljubljana has had to overcome, and the preparations being made for the city's upcoming 2045 Vision. Dublin ranks the second slowest city in the world when it comes to traffic congestion 🚘 🚦 New data from TomTom, shows trips totalling 10km in Dublin take roughly 29 minutes and 30 seconds. In comparison, Bilbao in Spain, which has a similar population to Dublin, has a travel time of 13 minutes and 40 seconds for journeys of the same distance! It is MPI’s vision that Ireland develops as a global leader in shared sustainable mobility by placing the needs of transport users at the heart of transport policy, enabling innovation, promoting public health, and supporting climate action. 🌎 Shared mobility can help make Dublin a more sustainable and congestion-free urban environment. 🌟 Enterprise Mobility I GoCar Ireland I Yuko Toyota Car Club I Bleeper I MOBY I Aircoach I Payzone Ireland I FREENOW

In my humble opinion, seeing how public transport is already free, I would propose the following: 1. Expanding the gratuity span of the Veloh programme (half an hour is not enough). 2. We need more free parking spots for private bicycles as well. Any relevant tram, train or bus hub should be equipped with sufficient spots. 2. P+R should be built near train stations all along the border. Measures should be taken to discourage drivers from coming to Luxembourg city by car and, instead, encourage them to leave the car at the border and use public transport from there.

Last night's Tegenlicht Meet Up Utrecht, in a packed auditorium buzzed with excitement for international #traintravel in Europe. Elmer van Buuren, Roel Yska, and Jeroen Wesdorp led a captivating discussion on making international #rail more accessible to the public. The insights shared underline a clear call to action: it's time to fast-track the expansion of #train lines, not just as an industry priority but as a political imperative. The public's repeated calls for more international train options need to be answered. Together, we must rally to meet this demand and collectively push our efforts into higher gear. #RailTravel #SustainableTransport #EuropeanRail #connectingeuropebynight #prorail #greendeal
