Industry focus: Media and Entertainment. When the world thinks telecoms, it doesn't always think about sporting events and concerts - until they are trying to share a video of the performance with friends and connectivity is lagging. The leaders in the sports and live entertainment industry are designing smart venues for the future. But to create these venues of tomorrow, you need to modernize your network today. Modern network architectures can enable venue innovation and support guest experiences with high-speed connectivity with low latency. See how we're making this possible: https://lnkd.in/e_SpQaGP #Media #Entertainment #Connectivity #Telecoms #Verizon #VerizonBusiness #VerizonPartnerSolutions

A revolution in the making when brodcasters 🎥 can do live productions over mobile networks Broadcasters’ cameras need to be connected to their production centers, using fiber, satellite and more recently over mobile networks. A challenge that get bigger, and cost more, when the production is live, use multiple cameras and you need to be able to move cameras. Ericsson and Sony showcased how the combination of three innovations make a real difference: 1️⃣ A five inch screen, that goes on top of cameras, with integrated 5G 2️⃣ A network slice that can carry a 35Mbps video stream in real-time from the camera 3️⃣ The ability to connect the slice in real-time to the camera that shall be live, with Open APIs No mobile world congress is complete without talking to Ken Rehbehn about how 5G for mission-critical communications and sports and here we explain this innovation in a short video. #5G #LiveBroadcast #ConnectedVenues #NetworkAPI #NetworkSlicing
Told in Their Own Words, #MWC24 Edition: Broadcast Camera Video over Open API 5G Slices from Ericsson and Sony Broadcasters need mobility to capture the dynamic activity at the Olympics and FIFA events. A Sony broadcast camera combined with the Sony PDT-FP1 Portable Data Transmitter flows 35 Mbps video to the broadcast production center over 5G. Here, Ericsson shows how new open network APIs allow the dynamic assignment of 5G slice performance to a live camera. The combination is essential because spectrum availability is challenging at Olympic or FIFA venues during competitions and ceremonies. The ability to dial in the needed Quality of Service parameters for a single active camera translates to efficient resource use, effective mobile operator monetization, and cost-effective, high-quality broadcast operations. These characteristics demonstrate the power and value of 5G Advanced networks. Thanks to Peter Linder, Ericsson's guru of mega-event communications, for his concise explanation of how Sony innovation and open network APIs driving 5G slicing combine to make a must-deploy solution at the mega-events. Yes, yet another post about attending #NABShow 🤣.. As I onboard on a new journey (formal news to come on Monday 🤐), I will be active with my ex-AWS colleagues and other industry players to brainstorm on the intersect of #Media and #Telco. As #Telcos are opening up their network capabilities based on a standard of APIs (see the Camara web site at https://camaraproject.org/ by the Linux Foundation Projects). These APIs expose functions that media companies can use to enrich their D2C (direct-to-consumer) platform capabilities with : ⏩ Smooth signup experience (no OTP required) -> Seamless CX (Customer Experience) 🚔 Fraud Detection and Identity Resolution -> Fight piracy, revenue erosion, credential sharing 🕵️ Know Your Customer (#KYC): All those FAST platforms that onboard viewers without any knowledge about who they are -> This is for you. 📈 Connectivity Insights -> Understand why QoE may be degraded and most importantly *how* to fix it. 📶 When using 5G broadcast, allocate Quality on Demand (QoD) for a reliable streaming experience -> Think of stadiums where you have 10,000s of cell phones competing on the same 5G radio as your own cameras: How to guarantee your broadcast quality transmission? And many others.. Reach out to setup a meeting -> https://lnkd.in/g4fNw9mc or just use LinkedIn Messaging. https://nabshow.com/2024/
