Fantastic session by London Office of Technology & Innovation (LOTI) hosted by Amazon at their head offices. Theo Blackwell MBE highlighted the importance of a Pan London #IoT. The IoT journey is picking up pace and the Greater London Authority have provided funds for a joint London Borough IoT venture so data can be shared between them (anonymised). Amazon Web Services (AWS) are utilising the #Garnet framework (https://lnkd.in/ePDWmbQj are able to ingest data from different sources. CITY TRAX presented their offering and how the data is collected and plotted into a signal London wide map from different data points from participating boroughs and some further analysis with some dummy data. David Grasty has been running the show and has made some fantastic strides in IoT in the public sector. He has conducted numerous pilots since 2019 and leading the charge to have some standards for us to use so we can share data more efficiently, save on costs, change the culture on how IoT is utilised. He presented a draft declaration that we need to comment on before it is finalised. The idea is, we all sign up to the declaration which will streamline procurement of IoT as the expectations and principles will be clearly outlined from the outset. IoT is moving at a rapid pace and now we can use the power of #AI to analyse the data and really make a difference. It’s not all about silo working and IoT devices collecting data, it’s what we do with that data and how we enrich it with other data we already hold. It’s also about sharing safely with our residents and others to make a real difference. In a way, we ate not just empowering council staff to become move efficient and proactive, we are also empowering our residents users of our services.
