I chuckle each year (mostly at myself) at how we all marvel that it gets cold, and everything gets snow covered this time of year. Why are we always surprised by it? Some things don’t change. Here’s what stays the same: Our expectation that new employees will act like us Our need to have an adaptive mindset Our thirst for knowledge and growth And here’s what’s changing (constantly): Technology - what, how we use it, how we evolve with it (#ai) Demographics of our people - our employee needs are more diverse, and require employers to be more inclusive The need for leaders to be flexible and open minded These things don’t happen overnight. Here’s the truth - those who expect everyone to change for THEM are going to fail harder than those who adapt. It’s like the old Kenny Loggins song, we need to evolve our mindset to a “Meet me halfway” (you’re welcome) state. If you truly want to grow and be prepared for tomorrow’s workforce, both sides need to adapt. What’s the only part of that you can control? YOU! Let’s talk about how to shape that leadership path starting now, and growing through 2025. It’ll help you with your long term engagement and retention strategies (you have those right?) The de-bossification of leadership... "In many industries particularly “White-collar” ones the era of “bosses” is in decline. There is a rise in the need for leaders, guides, coaches, mentors, role-models, creators, and builders. Less of a clamoring for bosses, managers, controllers, monitors, evaluators, and paper pushers. This shift has been driven by changing demographics, the spread of technology, the rise of unbundled and distributed work, new behavior expectations, and a re-definition of what “work” is including the rise of fractionalized and free-agent talent who work for themselves or at multiple jobs and are expected to comprise most of the work force in the US by the end of the decade." https://lnkd.in/df4pvXR5 Thanks Rishad Tobaccowala

What we talk about as 'leaving command-and-control behind,' is described here as 'De-Bossification'. A fascinating read below by Rishad Tobaccowala! Want more? then bookmark Rishad Tobaccowala's podcast "What's Next" and listen to his interview with Dr. Stacy Feiner and Jack Harris where they discuss leaving behind the outdated model of command and control, in favor of elevating communities to work collaboratively and justly. https://lnkd.in/gav94va4
