The topic at hand is the "Wada Pav Girl," whose popularity in the news media reveals earnings of Rs. 40,000 per day, translating to Rs. 8 million in annual business revenue, based on 200 working days. With a conservative estimate of a 50% profit margin, the net realizable earnings are approximately Rs. 4 million. The question arises: what degree is required for this business which is earn more potential in a day than a high profile degree holder In India. The simple answer is none. No secondary or higher secondary education is necessary. Comparatively, engineering graduates, who often earn between Rs. 800 to Rs. 2000 per day, struggle to reach even Rs. 30,000 per month in many cases. This is not a criticism of engineering graduates or postgraduates but highlights a significant skill gap in the market. In the case of the Wada Pav business, the necessary skills include delivering high-quality food, employing low-pricing techniques, acquiring customers, maintaining personal representation, and utilizing advanced online delivery methods—all non-technical skills essential for earning potential and very impotantly is market accepted skill set for attract money. In a report from a high-profile and knowledgeable source, the following insights were highlighted: 1. The employability rate for higher degree holders in India is declining. 2. Approximately 80% of engineering graduates are employed in positions that do not align with their qualifications. 3. About 20% of IIT graduates are unemployed. 4. UNPLACED (#unemployment) rate in nine well established older IITs over past 6 years from 2018 to 2023 was 26% p.a. which has further increased to 37% in 2024 ! It is a well known medical fact that unemployment is a major underlying cause for suicides (approx one in every five).
