The comprehensive data package generated in our research on various aspect shows a result where we are proud to say that our polymer prefilled syringe SCHOTT TOPPAC® freeze can withstand even deep-cold temperatures. Our main conclusions: ● All normal functions of the syringe are maintained even when stored at deep-cold temperatures. ● COC syringes can maintain the Container Closure Integrity down to – 𝟏𝟎𝟎 °𝐂, as the coefficients of thermal expansion of the different syringe components are similar. ● Cross-linked siliconization provides excellent performance for leachable silicone oil quantities and subvisible particles. This reduces the risk of drug interactions and loss of efficacy. ● Plunger movement does not breach the PFS sterile barrier, but understanding the syringe and fill-and-finishing parameters that have an impact helps to control this phenomenon.
